Sol Contingency Releases Proving Grounds Tonight!
As the title says, Sol Contingency will finally go public with it's multiplayer demo this evening at 6:00pm EST. I got to join the closed beta over the winter and had a tremendous amount of fun flying, shooting down anyone I could, getting shot down just as often, admiring the visuals, and just gene...

Re: Remember Sol Contingency?
I'm only guessing here but I think the IP distancing Fox mentioned happened after the end of August. I got a chance to see the game in August and between then and now two weapons have been completely reworked... In any case after playing SolC for a few days I love it. It's not perfect but it's one o...

Remember Sol Contingency?
Hey folks!Do you all remember Sol Contingency, that promising Unreal 3 recreation of Descent that Interplay shut down? Well it turns out that Interplay failed to kill it and now (as a brand new IP) it's about to release its initial closed beta, soon to be followed by an open beta and full release la...

Re: Return after life
Cool! Thanks for the info. I assume that the new tracker will be included by default in the .ini file downloaded with future releases?

Re: Return after life
Let's see if we can find a willing host then. Damn, I sound like an alien don't I? Yeah my experiences with the various members of the Descent community have been overwhelmingly positive. We've got a lot of good people.

Re: Return after life
Now we're Steam friends :drink:. No worries. I've got a lot of preparation to do tonight anyway. I'll be at a dance festival from tomorrow afternoon until Sunday night and then I'll be exhausted. Maybe sometime next week. Perhaps we can round up a host by then. Do we have to open ports to connect di...

Re: Return after life
Alright Alter-Fox! It's almost 9:00pm for me and I'm home and ready to fly (if we can indeed connect). I'd definitely like to give it a try. I've used Steam to communicate with people to play D2X-XL. I don't see you in the XL Steam group but I know you use many different names. If you like, send me ...

Re: Return after life
As it turns out, Thursday evening is probably my best bet this week too. I'm going to be at a festival from Friday through Monday so I'll be more or less technology free for the weekend. Thursday I should be available from around 9:00pm to 2:00am EST (GMT-5). Alter-Fox are you able to host? I seem t...

Re: Return after life
I sleep 4-6 hours a night as a matter of course so there must be some of my day that overlaps with yours, especially on a weekend. I'll see what I can figure out.
Alter-Fox, just let me know when you know.

Re: Return after life
Congrats FinnFann it's a good feeling to nail down a job. I'm sure we all know how easily real life can take us away from Descent. Speaking of which, it's good to hear from you Weyrman. If either of you ever feel like attempting some D2X-XL multiplayer hit me up. I can't always make it (more of that...

Re: 3D Cockpit model
Thanks Science1d1. I know what you mean about time flying. Of course as soon as I started again I hit the busiest few weeks of my life and haven't had time to model, play Descent, or do anything computer related at all, but I think this week I will be able to jump back into Rhino and make some progr...

Re: 3D Cockpit model
Thanks for the answer Karx. It does help. Followup question: is the 105 degree viewing angle for a 16x10 ratio? If so then what is the viewing angle if you play with a 4x3 resolution? If you can give me this info I should be all set, thanks very much. I just found a couple of sites that will help me...

Re: 3D Cockpit model
Thanks Karx. I have a question that maybe you can answer. Do you know, or can you find out the lens length and size of Descent's ingame camera? I have just learned that I'm modelling using a 35mm lens with a 50mm lens length. I sincerely hope that this is not too different from the game camera other...
