That is a general guideline too, spaces should not be even part of paths too, not just file names. Use underscore instead. Descent in particularly is very enabling, since the file name is visible to non in-game; mission name and level-specific names are provided instead as metadata in the msn/mn2 fi...

Actually DLE's source has been open for some time for anyone to contribute. Of course if changes are to be merged to the main project karx has to evaluate the submitted. Cube light value? That typically controls how bright objects are, though you don't realize it from the walls. DLE is supposed to set it intelligently these days though. Yet, you must not neglect pushing that "calculate light" button. DLE defaults new segment light at some very low value. ...

Makes a bit sense even though it's unintended behaviour: unless you put lightsources (manual vertex lighting won't work in D2X-XL lightmap calc) how can you really test a level you cannot really see in. Still, maybe a warning should prompt the user upon saving such a level.

He can't give you music (necessarily). You have your own music, and use it with D2X-XL. Preferably, you should convert it in .ogg format. If it is MP3, it is fine too.
