Are there any new HAM editors?
Hey! I have been using Haxmed32, a hacked version that allows you to permanently alter the elements of the main HAM file of the game. However, while it can edit existing elements, it doesn't allow for adding, removing or overwriting them. Also, it doesn't allow to do more subtle kind of work, such a...

Re: Questions regarding sound editing
Vacant spots are a different issue - if they're not being used, nothing bad will happen if you put something there. Well, the only problem is, I don't know how to do it. It seems like a vicious circle to me, because: - There are 255 elements in the Sounds_2 tab, as accessed with Haxmed32. You can o...

Saving D1 sounds as processed by SDL_Mixer?
I'm making a custom .S22 file where some of the sounds from D1 will be reintroduced. However, while some files transfer to 22kHz quite well (in DTX2 playback), others show minimal difference or get distorted. For example, the secret door sound from D1 sounds acceptable, but still a bit muffled compa...

Re: Questions regarding sound editing
Even if there's such a limit, it wouldn't really be a problem. There are 255 items in Descent2.HAM, but to give an example: three of them use the same sound file. They're called something like powerup:health, powerup:energy, powerup:lasers. Each of them attributed to the respective pickups. But all ...

Questions regarding sound editing
Hey, I have some questions regarding the editing of sounds for Descent 2.HAM and Descent2.S22. In the HAM file, as seen through HAXMED32, there are 255 items that correspond to sound, these items can be allocated to other items so that they can play in certain circumstances. However, many of those 2...

Toggleable "ecliptic plane" grid?
Every designer knows that it sometimes is very tricky to keep things orientated in perfect parallel or perpendicularity to the initial cube. While such orientation has no bearing on gameplay, it looks much nicer on the automap and has been accepted as a standard of quality. What do you think about a...

Re: Adding the D1 reactor to D2 levels?
I was gonna say that computing the lighting doesn't help with this but looks like you took care of it already, Sirius. Ok, waiting for the next version eagerly, then ^^

Re: Adding the D1 reactor to D2 levels?
I have a slight issue with the new (old) reactor. It's too dark, even if the segment it is in is well-lit. What could be responsible for this?

Re: Several textures not displaying?
Yeah, enjoy the break!
BTW, I have a Vista Home on my laptop and all those programs work fine. Still, its a bitch to have to use DTX2 to replace animated textures. It's very useful for extracting the files, though.

Re: Several textures not displaying?
Oh, I get it. Thanks for the explanation. Still, being able to access single frames of animations would be a sweet feature for DLE. I even posted a ticket suggesting it some time ago. You only really have access to animated door frames in DLE, plus some stuff like perhaps flowing lava or water. And ...

Several textures not displaying?
While browsing through the game exclusive texture folders I compiled, I have noticed that there are several that are present in the PIG files (Obviously, I had to extract them from somewhere with DTX2), but don't display in the texture choice menu. I have no idea whether this has something to do wit...

Re: Adding the D1 reactor to D2 levels?
While you're at it, you might wanna double-check the code for 1.11.76. I have encountered quite a bit of instabilities compared to the previous version - most particularly: the editor crashes randomly much more often than this would happen before. During random tasks like clicking on a segment wall ...
