Re: Best of the big ones (15+ level mods) - top three
I would have voted for TEW if the difficulty hadn't been so high in the initial version, and I haven't come around to play the toned down one. You should really get around to it Diedel. As for the difficulty, we COMPLETELY nerfed the robots for Trainee and Rookie, a good chunk of their lethality re...

Re: Classic singleplayer missions not worth 80%+ overall sco
If people want to think I'm male, I don't care. If they want to think I'm female, I don't care. I know what I am, my friends know what I am. What does it matter at this point? I created some good work in the community, THAT is what should matter. As for the conversation, only on certain people's har...

Re: Classic singleplayer missions not worth 80%+ overall sco
Well for the Lost Levels ship speed, you must have old versions now. I've since updated (like in the last 3 months!) the download on the DMDB and the weapons are now fully integrated into the hog file (so no need to rename it to replace [temporarily] your descent2.hog to get the new ships/weapons) a...

Re: Classic singleplayer missions not worth 80%+ overall sco
KakHome, if you liked Bahagad/Lost Levels, then you'd love Vignettes as well. Just sayin'
I've actually seen a LOT of coop games of Vignettes in recent months. It appears to be quite a coop hit.

okay, I'm confused, when you say 'not worth 80%', do you mean they deserve more? or they should deserve less score? Its a bit unclear.

Re: Neo Neptune - Multiplayer Level
What is the 'complete map pack?' Honestly, this level was built to be almost throw-away. It was something to get my hands back into the level design aspect of Descent. I have made a few more levels after this one that probably deserve to be included more so than this one. But that's just my opinion,...

Re: More obscure good singleplayer missions/map collections
Thank you so much for your comments. That makes it all worthwhile. In fact, I had at least 4-5 more ideas for the set, but never got the time to make them. Furthermore, since completion of the level set, I got a further 7-8 more level ideas for a Vignettes 2. (making a total of 13 level ideas so far...

Re: Favorie D1, 2 singleplayer missions (campaigns/collectio
More playable as in: 'no shooting a panel switch and then wandering around or looking through the automap to see what it did. Trying to flip a switch and having no idea what it did and spending minutes trying to figure out the next 'opening' in the level can be a bit frustrating. Don't get me wrong,...

Re: Favorie D1, 2 singleplayer missions (campaigns/collectio
Can't forget Bahagad Outbreak and Legacy of Chaos (that has 3 levels!) And hopefully, once I complete the conversion of Apocalyptic Factor to Descent 1 (It'll have Legacy of Chaos levels as 3 secret levels to boot!), you'll get another awesome set for Descent 1. And don't think because its a 'port' ...

Re: Development Blah: Comments
I just realized, I do not believe Descent 1 supports Descent 2 mine objects. It converts it over fine in DLE-XP as green objects, but not sure if Descent 1 will have a fit when playing the level with those still left in. That and the level name in the Automap only displays as '' instead of its actua...

Re: Development Blah: Comments
Descent 2 has overpowered weapons already. I mean, once you have the Gauss gun, you could almost as well use a cheat to finish a level or mission. Missions like TEW pretty much find a new, working formula here - but then it's one you need a lot of skill to master - which makes it different from D1:...

Re: Development Blah: Comments
Yeah, you, as a designer, should be aware of the limitations prior to conversion. And adjust the level accordingly prior to the conversion to make it function better as a D1 level. Because let me tell you, there is nothing quite like the feel of Descent 1 gameplay. Descent 2 is awesome and all that,...

Re: Development Blah: Comments
The D2->D1 converter works pretty good, haven't tested the .109 version yet, but I will shortly. But I think converting levels from D2 to D1 takes a LOT more finesse than say, D1->D2 where all you need to do is convert, save and play. No editing needed. For special case levels, like level 3 of Apoca...

Well if people want to keep wasting ammunition on a robot trying to start its death roll sequence, I say let them!
