It doesn't have audio buffer troubles for me. There was a bug, but that has been fixed a couple of weeks ago. Make sure to set max channels high enough in audio options.

Recomputing lightmaps at different settings doesn't delete lightmaps that are already there.

Small levels were the plan, but that plan didn't survive it's contact with reality in the end. ;-)

Afaik 15 is the biggest level though, and it was built by Darkhorse, one of the best Descent level authors; And Darkhorse doesn't look like the kind of guy to settle with anything less than spectacular.

Need High Quality Lightmaps?

Do you have a big Descent mission you would like to play, but lack the computing power to create lightmaps for in a reasonable time?

Then just post your wishes below, and I will compute lightmaps for your favorite missions and store them on my web site. :)

Please check your brightness setting - regardless of whether you didn't touch your player profile. Just check it. ;)

Btw, please don't derail threads the way you did with your post - even if you created the thread. Make a new thread with a meaningful title instead.

Precomputed Lightmaps After a period of frequent changes, I consider D2X-XL's lightmap calculation code stable again. Therefore, I have started to precompute lightmaps for the most popular, massive or best (as I see it) missions in high quality (lightmap quality: high, lightmap precision: standard)....

I just tried it: D2X-XL lightmap precalculation keeps running after alt+tabbing from d2x-xl to another program (even if the other program completely covers the d2x-xl window). At least on Windows 7. Lightmap files computed on another machine are fully compatible. I have written a post about good lig...
