Re: New Descent with Unreal 3 engine? (UDK)

I know what you mean by "a somewhat more realistic attempt", but copying/ importing sounds and models from the Descent series isn't realistic IMO. +1 With the UDK framework there is possibility for making a brand new game, but lot's of workhorse is needed, especially then being fanmade. A...

Re: The Ascent Project - Diamond Claw WIPs

Hmmm, here's an idea actually. Most probably you have thought about how the arms can be designed to retract or fold close to the body or what not, considering the internal mobility of the Diamond Claw. Then I remembered how Diamond Claws spawn in Descent, body shown first then arms appearing slowly,...

Re: Blurry textures with version 1.16.14

D2X-XL is a rolling release, so keeping your drivers up to date is important, not just the queue. I imagine most games to benefit from new drivers. While new games might not work with older drivers I really fail to imagine how old games fail with new drivers. I don't really know...

Re: The Ascent Project - Diamond Claw WIPs

I guess there's no harm in extra input. Especially when you take the liberty to implement it at your own will. Howver such input for this particular work is sooo unnecessary. What's more to add? That's the good (out of many) thing with art: no matter how you would imagine to see it (e.g. the Diamond...

What audio driver are you running on? Default windows compatible drivers or installed new ones from vendor?

Re: The Ascent Project - Highpoly Descent Models

Your reply was lovely ascent. I was afraid I would be fringing on being insulting to this work, where I merely wanted to let out my impressions. So thanks for clearing that up for me, since I spoke in ignorance. Of course this project means a ton to you, and by tired I didn't not mean exhausted your...

Re: The Ascent Project - Highpoly Descent Models

The more your designs grow, the more loyal to the original they become, if you allow me this small feedback. Looks like you are "getting tired" so to speak. Don't push these designs. If something does not looks as it should be (i.e. as the artist wants it to be, with no sacrifice for conve...

Re: The Ascent Project - Highpoly Descent Models

So I figures they were lenses on a track. It does show in the stills, and it's easily implied they are moving parts. (central one as well, for those unfamiliar with the game) I always envisioned the visor to be a photosensitive surface (protected from impacts with a usual energy shield which let's t...

Re: The Ascent Project - Highpoly Descent Models

Some elaborate curvilinear design. Much much better than the pest. Tricky idea, but I like the ITD like that. As feedback, it's visor caught my attention on first sight. Can you elaborate a bit on that? What's the visor technology you portray in sci-fi terms? :P

Re: Development Blah: Comments

Kudos karx, the new generator is a charm as described. Cannot test it yet, since I have yet to resolve my driver issues to make DLE's OGL display properly, but I can take advantage of the spare time to really study how you form the cubes around the Bezier (if I understood correctly) and how that is ...

Re: Development Blah: Comments

You miss the best enzo. This time the change is BIG. Design enabling tools. If the curve generator is fully complete with these new features (and the calculation/generation algorithms improved) it will be the first "omni-tool" of descent geometry building. You build your connectors and the...
