Just look at the current pyro model,
I don't tested it now.

There are some special faces, which are not visible ingame, but have these functions.
I think you can set it with supersheeps OOF-Editor.

Thrusters are sub objects in OOF with the flag 0x0800000. Other OOF elements comprise armament which is composed of turrets of guns.

One question. Is it at all possible to make it so that weapons only appear on your Pyro when you pick them up? For example, your ship could only have the two end lasers unless you pick up the quad laser, or even have the selected weapon drop out from the bottom.

Possible are many things. ;)

You need at least somebody, who is able to make it.

Such feature needs some core-changes to the engine and very complex model-structures (switchable submodels).

I don't think it will come in the next time ;)

Actually I had thought of that already. Will be hard for the lasers though, as they are integrated in the ship's shape so much.

Yeah, easiest route for those might actually be to swap polymodels when you pick up the quads. Not sure whether that kind of thing is really worth the effort though... and you also have to worry about advantages in multiplayer with multiple versions... after all, you are going to be able to tell what weapons someone has loaded - they are not if they have an older version or different stream of D2.

As you can see in this model weapons can be detachable. It was done intentionally. Ok. guys. This here model is for the descent remake. so it contains features needed for providing additional ideas in the game.

Sirius, I thought of equipping the armed guns and missiles, and that's something you find out immediately anyway if you see another player in MP. ;)

You could also make each model additive, so that the guns simply mount to the ship as you pick them up, equipped or not. This would work with the theory that the ship can "make use of additional technology and weapons on location".
