Phantom XL - Progress Thread #1

Postby MetalBeast » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:49 pm

Hi friends,

in this thread I will post the development status of PHANTOM XL

At the moment I'm doing the basic steps ;)
- searching my backup hard drives for important files
- trying to install my 3dsmax version on windows 7 and my new Notebook
(the first one since years, with no Nvidia graphics :D )

What I would need from the community:
1. ideas for the changable weapons models
2. Skinning/texturing help
3. any ideas for improving the model.

UPDATE:
########
Max is up and running on "windows 7" :D

I can't decide between #4 and #5. Those are the best options IMO.

Hi MB,

welcome back ! I am glad to see you here again !

Please think of this: Attach the small missiles on the inner side of the wings between the lasers. The launch tubes are for the mega missiles. Yes, the Phantom can shoot 2 Smarts and 2 Megas ;-)

Hey, just an idea....
Picture one is my favorite, otherwise I prefer No. 4.

Well, as I said, I prefer #4. Small missiles are being launched left/right alternatingly, and it doesn't play a role whether there are two or four missile mounts as far as implementing handling for this ship is concerned.

Two launch tubes ? Not bad, but then I would like to see them like your pic no. 1.

Because of the weapons (plasma, fusion and so on) I think those for the "old" pyro won´t match to the phantom.

No, too much.
