Well, you can't have everything. A Pyro is no C-130 Gunship.

The holes in the front are best used for reverse thrusters. Havung thrusters for rolling and sliding, but no reverse thrusters lacks a bit consequence, doesn't it?

Pyro's have uber bags for carrying hostages. Just place your ship in front of a hostage and switch to external view, and you'll know why I am saying that. ;)

Actually there was no reverse thrusters on the front. Those were intend to be the guns. and one more thing - all those holes in the original concept was meant to represent all weapons - without any switchable ones. they like all present as in any modern fighter. Missiles though - was meant to be stored in missile compartments. Missile compartments was intended to be to the right and to the left of the zone behind the pilot seat. And behind the pilot seat a small room for hostages...

Well -Joffa- / _Dorthoor_ or whatever you are calling you now.
I'm writing this for the last time.
The Phantom is based on your design (one of them),
it is not a 100% implementation of your design/idea.

As I remember, at this time,
when I startet to model the ship, you were not sure yourself,
which things are meant for what and there were dozen different designs of the same ship.

So I decided to do the things on my own way.

Now, when the ship is nearly finished,
you are permanently posting your new/old ideas for the ship and not at once.

No offence, but let me say this clear:
If you want a special Ship with all the spezial abilities and using all your ideas,
than make it please by yourself!

We changed the poslights to thrusters after long discussion,
cause after all, we agreed, it would be nice joke for D2X-XL.

It was our goodwill.

But..., I will NOT change the ship every time you are posting your new/old ideas.

So stop bugging me with it!

Well joffa, i think MB has a point.
After all this MB's version of the ship is a remake only based on your original model, and it's logical that it will be not completely the same as you think, and even less at this stage that the model is almost finished.

Also, i can assure you MB is an expert modeler that will do the best to improve the ship and in the end, so i'm pretty sure the final result will be completely outrageous.

So just wait, let the expert do the work and enjoy. You'll see you won't regret, and i'm convinced you will be glad when you see the final result ;)

The entire "realism" discussion is futile - not even if we would want to expand our focus to the entire setting of the game. If you want an Imperial Destroyer then Descent is probably the wrong game to look for it. There is no way you can put 100 missiles of various shapes and sizes plus 10 different guns on a fighter plane. Descent has something arcadish about it. If you wanted realism, the Pyro could carry 4 missiles under the winglets, a bomb under the fuselage, and 4 guns under the wings. Even another gun below the fuselage is a bit out of whack.

The same goes for physics discussions about proper thruster placement. We are going for a cool looking ship, and if the thrusters are halfway in place that's good enough.

Whoever wants something different has to build it himself, as MB has stated. :)

guys i got it in the first place really..:) It was just a...reference. Its not a critic.

I remember what i said and i understand the point of MB, He just thought that I'm offering something when in fact i did not. I'm Russian after all my English can be tricky sometimes. And you misunderstand my motives.
I just made a reference to original thoughts.. I never thought that i can actually influence on the work on Pyro. I was surprised that you've even added the thrusters..:) In my model of Pro i will make a slight adaptation to this new feature..:)

Well, I am not offended at all. It's just that your comments can be misunderstood a little, and I wanted to kind of draw a line under the discussion.

IMHO box thrusters look odd. The space shuttle attitude thrusters are just small black holes. Flat submodels with black spots that small jets spurt out from would be more "realistic" :away: No don't beat me! :hammer:

Sorry, I too don't like that box thruster ports. :(

I'd rather have them like before. :away:

I basically like them as they are, but they should be significantly flatter.

I remember that you've been surprised by quad thrusters on my model, Karx. Your comment is still on my channel here..:)

Have you change your mind?

No I haven't. I was referring to the main thrusters on your ship, which you built plain square with tippy corners. They look raw and like a low poly model.

The aux thrusters on MB's ship model have rounded corners and look like exhausts. They're completely different. MB's main thrusters are nicely round shaped.

Looking at the pictures and comparing might have answered your question before you asked it. ;)

guys you are driving me crazy, really ;)

For the final Version I will create a choosable options for the ship, like:

- rounded cockpit for AUS-Red5
- runded thrusters for many of you
- position-lights
and many more ;)

And if you are nice to Diedel, maybe he will code a Option-Shop for the Ships in the D2X-XL :D

have a nice day ...

Greetings, MB

Rounded cockpit? Did I ask for that?? :?

Anyways, it really doesn't matter......

Ultimately, it's up to the modeler and programmer in the final decision.

If we let every body have a say in the way things should look.... The model would never get finished! :lolol:
