Hi JoFFa,

lol, okay, I am not very familar with textures and what kind of details can be expressed with them. But hey, I´ll send the model to you and you delete unneccessary vertices. Hows that ?

But at the moment I am testing how to get a cool framework for the glass. Some lines are needed just to visualize the "how to make a framework".

Hi,

here is the next update and your chance to take influence about the final shape. I asked because of the right way to implement the canopy into the ship yesterday.
Today you can tell me, which canopy do you want to see at the ship.
C2 is my favorite, maybe a little more massive than now. But hey, I like C1 too and so it is up to you to tell me your favorite.

Image

You might think, "hey, that crazy guy asks because of small details and I would never see any differences ingame anyway". You are right ... but if you build a model, you want it to be "perfect".

Make your decision. Sure, you can tell me more than just C1 or C2 like "C2 a little more massive", "C1 with a smaller second window and longer neck" and so on. I will listen to your suggestions.

Image
@ JoFFa: I know, the framework could be done with textures. But HH 2.1 has 1306 polygons and d2x-xl can handle much more. I like details ;-).
@karx: Does the canopy look like you want it to be ?

I love this version and it's very good!

Very good.

I cant help the filing that the central part is so heavy detailed according to a wings. to me they seem too light and too fin..:)

I would also inquire why wouldn't you make the wings as a holders for lasers on ends - they aren't for flying after all - they're just for holding weapons, so to speak..:)

all in all good job.

EDIT: Oh, yeah... IMO C2 - FTW!

Hi,
thx to you all because your comments improve my motivation to finish that model. It was a difficult task but now we are very close to the final shape....
I will go on with Hammerhead 2.1 with canopy C1 (slightly modified). Sorry JoFFa, but my wife told me that C1 is the better one  .
Next week I start to make all the needed corrections (once again).
Some alignments have to be reformed so that the model looks sharp and straight. Then the model will be sent to JoFFa. JoFFa and me will design the textures. There will be two sets of textures ... Let's see which one is the best ;-). Seriously, I create textures only to learn how to do that. More likely, JoFFas result will be published. Let's wait and see.
Then you will be able to co-decide how the guns will be mounted on the ship. Especially, whether the laser will be placed at the end of the wings. I could live with both layouts, but I prefer the kind that the lasers will be placed in the middle of the first wing piece.
Before the ship is textured, I´ll post a picture of the error-adjusted model. That will be your last chance for change requests.

This was my first and probably last trip to the ship design. I just wanted to see how to do that and how much work is behind it. My respects to all those involved here, especially MetalBeast. Sure, you can quickly assemble a model. But to build a ship with passion is a matter of hundreds of hours of work.
My thanks go to MB, who always had an open ear for me, to JoFFa who will make the texturing and also to Karx. Without his criticism, there won´t be a Hammerhead with this shape.
It's fun to do something for this community, because many nice people here are creative and active.
Well folks, let us wait for Hammerhead 2.1 after the error correction. I'll be back ;-)

Hey,

more statements about the canopy ? I would have expected them as an answer directly after my posting with the pictures. But no problem ;-), I was also pleased about your praise for the ship.

Canopy C1 is a little wider with bigger metal braces and a bigger second windows (side window). The ship shown in the picture with canopy C1 is slightly higher than the ship with C2 canopy.
First C2 was my favorite because the ship looks at the first appearance more aggressive than the ship with C1. But while changing the perspective view C1 looks better, imo
Anyway. I will change C1 to look more like C2 and post some pictures here afterwards. Make your final decision then.
I pursue this effort with the cockpit, because it is the eye catcher of this ship. Even the smallest changes have a major impact .... that was the reason why I put both types for election.

Fertig.

Okay okay ;-),

I modified C1 cockpit to be more like C2. For me C1 is the better choice. C2 has a small error how to fit the glass into the framework at the side windows. A line is missing. You don´t see it in the picture. I can fix it but then the framework becomes bigger. But that´s not your problem.

So once again: C1 or C2 ?

Please notice that C1 has no errors and was modified to be more like C2. It is a very good compromise, imo !

Hi,

I started the error correction yesterday. You might want to know, what it means. While developing the ship and changing some parts you might forget to mark all the edges or vertices which are effected by the wanted change. Then you get errors, the part is not "drawn" with the right perspective.
That is only one example of possible errors.
I want to show you the mesh of HH 2.1. The wireframe mode is very useful to find some kind of errors ;-).
Image

revised parts yesterday: Last part of the engines, antennas at the end of the wings and the other wing details, Canopy, front wings.
To do: Main Body, inner part of the wings, canopy, front, lasers, engines. Deeper look at the sideview.
