Descent Relived: Re-texturing Project by Novacron

Postby Novacron » Mon Nov 26, 2007 7:46 am

Doors!

I took some time to show you a few doors I am working on. I have set myself a goal to retexture ALL of the doors in Descent 2. So to start it off, I have some to show you:

As well as adding these to the pack, I will be updating the Descent Relived Texture Pack when I have a good batch of completed textures to add. That way, you won't have to wait for all of them to be done!

nr 2 and 3 were already done, incl. animations.

You should start to make textures, which are not alreeady converted to high-res versions. ;)
anyway good job :D

IMHO, Nova's textures look more like the original then the ones that Dizzy did.

Don't get me wrong, Dizzy's are great, but it's Nova's style and detail that makes his textures look better.
When you look at Nova's textures, you instantly recognize the texture!

So if he redoes some, if not all textures. Let him. ;)

Besides, you redid/ fixed Dizzy's models even though you didn't have too. :P

The exit-door was made by myself ;)

Anyway, we can improve any textures, when they are all converted.

No offence, I just think is better to make non converted textures first ;)

I did remodelling the Models, cause there were many missing and my models had another style, than dizzy's. :D

All the more reasons for Nova to pick and choose what textures he is free to do in his own style. :P

After some small improvements with the texture and the animation, I'd like to bring you fan01! Be warned! The blades have been sharpened so be sure not to cut yourself on your way out of the mine! ENJOY!

The blades must not be wider than on the original fan, or you will not be able to shoot through them! I think you need to rework it.

Actually, it has something to do with the locations of the blades.

Nova's blades are very close to the same size as Dizzy's blades (width wise).

The red is Nova's blades.
The green is Dizzy's blades.

No, it has to do with the width! The wider the blades, the more space they occupy in the circle they describe while rotating, and the less space and hence time to you have to hit the gaps. It must be made sure that the hires fan blades are not wider than the lores ones!

I am almost positive they aren't too wider, when I make a texture I always enlarge the original and overlay it while I am working to make sure everything is properly sized. I'll check though.
