Interactive Texture Making Workflow.

Postby -JoFFa- » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:39 pm

Hi guys.

I'm going to make several textures for descent 1 and 2.

I do not want to make job twice. I think that you as well.
I cannot search through ALL of the textures listed by various person in a forum - so...
So each time as i'm going to start texture i'll ask you if you allready making it or - if you seen it somewere completed.

I want to redo some of the completed textures - but i'm not going to do it with all of them - i think several of the completed textures up to date - is cool enough. Its not that the rest is bad - i just like to do some of them.
So, i'm going to make it this way. Each time as i'm going to redo some of the textures - i will put here my intentions.

For istance: "I'm reserving the making of the texture "rock 067". Do anyone making it allready?"

So thats the way it's gping to be. Expect update soon.

Joffa, if you look on Diedel's site on the HiRes Textures download page, you will find at the top an openoffice spreadsheet listing all the textures and showing if they have been redone or not. I strongly suggest that you get it and have a look.

If you don't have OpenOffice then let us know and no doubt a copy of it in Excel format will be provided.

It's creator is a member here so I would assume that any textures done will need to be sent to Diedel for inclusion in the correct pack and notification sent to Maaspuck for the list to be officially updated.

Lets have all texture makers working on new textures rather than redoing ones. Lets aim to get all of the textures done before trying to improve completed ones.

I would suggest that a thread be stickied in this forum for the listing of textures being worked on and for announcements of updates to the texture list.

Here endeth my spouting! :D

Looks great! :thumb:

Only two things:
1. Try to make the textures "seamless"
2. make the light-part more red, like the original.

But overall, good job.

To be honest.

When it comes to textures or models..........
I don't d/l any of them anymore unless I can see a preview of the image first.

What is so hard about uploading an image at imageshack.net so people can choose if worth d/ling it or not?

Just my 2¢ ;)

Side issue - getting files from uploaded.to

Postby Weyrman » Tue Jan 15, 2008 9:11 am

Joffa,

I can't get the files from the uploaded.to link that you gave.

When I click on it after it times out, it simply jumps to the same page on which the countdown starts over again and in Firefox a page for flirt-fever.de loads.

I don't need to chat to lonely singles as I'm happily married, I just want to download a file! :x

Be sure you have enabled script for uploaded.to, working fine for me and it's fast downloading.

Hi -JoFFa- and all,

i think this is a quite nice reactor texture, maybe a bit bright in my personal opinion. But there could be another problem with the integration of this texture into the original levels. You may have noticed that the background of ctrl01 is the same as metl016, so the metl016 texture (which already exists as a hires version) is a basic texture for several other textures. Therefore this texture should be used for all other textures with the same background in order to get a similar feeling within a level.

But in general this is just a small problem which could be discussed here.

I would be glad to to update my OpenOffice Document in case of new 'official' Hires Textures, but this in my opinion should be decided by the 'Core'-Team.

Best regards

Well here you have one of the versions of Ctrl01 and Ctrl04.. for now.
I guess sometimes is better to stop and send to people to have their opinion.

Enjoy?

P.S. Diedel - can you plese tell me what can i do to increase the frame count? I mean that thing with height divided to width equals quantity of frames in animation wont work.
