Im always happy to see more ship models :) . If D2X-XL can offer a choice of different vehicles to fly, it will get a significant increase of awesomness

I think the XF could use something towards the rear

How would it look if you added 2 more fins at the back? Or perhaps shift the top wings to point backwards rather than forwards (not the guns of course)

MB is also working on models of the three other D3 ships for D2. Once they're done I will add a selection screen with a nice rotating 3D view + list of ship specs and implement different behavior for the ships (weapons, speed, armor) like in D3.

I think i prefer the model with the top wings pointing back. If you think realistically, it gives the pilot, clearer peripheral vision! Can't wait to see D3 ships in D2x-xl!
Top work. :)

It occurs to me that might let me correct the Hunchback's gunpoints and tweak the stats to make it feel a little different. Stuff that I wish could have been done the first time, but of course vanilla Descent 2 doesn't support it.

Once again D2X-XL triumphs ;)

My 2 cents, what if you moved the missiles under the lower wings, closer in than where the inner lasers were, then made the upper wings shorter?

Maybe with the ship selection, the XF could have 2 variants: the forward swept top wings and the backward swept. I personally like the forward swept design better.

The texturing reminds me of my old Bloodhunter POG file I threw together a few years ago.

Again, awesome work, MB!

Yes, that is more or less what I was thinking.

The general idea is to make the ship look sleek and streamlined

But you're welcome to experiment with other solutions

It would give you better peripheral vision, if you could look sideways anyway.

The pilot better peripheral vision. 8)

I love this! Even though it has "X" shaped wings, it doesn't remind me of the X-wing from Star Wars in any way (which is good!). It definitely looks like a Pyro. Even this rough draft looks cool enough to play with in-game, in my opinion.

EDIT: I think the second design (the one with the top wings moved back) looks a little more sleek and unique.

I agree that the second version looks better, and I would love to fly it.

I was thinking about Lord Nothing's 3D cockpit topic in terms of the looking sideways thing, realistic flight sims have them, and it would be cool, just a hell of a lot of work.
