Tutorials

Postby Woodpecker » Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:34 pm

I was thinking there should be a tutorial on how to use DLE-XP, covering the basics like adding cubes, building matcens and simple triggers. Not everybody has DMB2, and those like myself who don't will have to work out everything from trial and error, or flood this forum with novice questions. Obviously I can't write it myself since I'm new to level building. Thoughts?

There is a way to make tutorials - without writing. On youtube there is a lot of various tutorials related to various programs when authors really show what they are doing and comment on their videos.

Its much faster - and can be repeated infinite times by a "learner". becides it can be improved.

So if you "need" tutors - then i guess its not up to writing it. It can be done a more recent popular way - using Camtasia or Fraps - and commenting on those videos related to a certain tasks.

Its up to guys who has a pleasure from knowledge that their teachings - are actually can be useful for some one and making them.

Hopefully I, too, can start making levels once I find the data files... It's not easy finding a replacement copy of D1/D2.

I just want to go back in time 15 years and beat the heck out of myself for not taking extra good care of my CDs.

dont be to harsh on yourself. On ebay you could easily buy them for a very little price. Or. You can find them in abandonware somewere.

The plan is to use GOG from the sound of it. Much easier.

In the light of what had been posted prior to the quote, I don't quite understand it.

(I hope that hint wasn't too subtle, once again)

You recommended ebay or abandonware.

#1 ebay is expensive (has been said here)
#2 Descent isn't abandonware (it's still sold by GoG.com, has been said here)

=> Your advice wasn't exactly helpful

hmm... You mean on your forum or in this thread?
cause with Ctrl+F - i see word ebay only in yours and mine comments.

My advice - helpful or not - was the only options available today. Unless piracy copies but you forbid that.

Your advice is bad advice, and not the only option today. I wonder whether you are living under a rock.
