Vertically-flipped textures...

Postby Sirius » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:21 am

For some reason I'm seeing some weird inconsistencies in the way custom TGA textures in DLE-XP are rendered vs D2X-XL, and I can't work out whether the problem is with the textures I'm using (and if so, how to fix them) or DLE-XP... they appear to be one way up in the texture preview and in D2X-XL, and the other way up in the main editor view (in texture-mapped mode) and the texture list. Tried using top-left origin vs. bottom-left and didn't seem to get anywhere - unless I did it wrong or something. Unfortunately, having a disparity between DLE-XP and D2X-XL is making it difficult to get the alignment right.

Is anyone familiar with this and is there something I need to do with the TGAs? I thought I'd make sure this isn't a well-known "duh" question before filing any bug reports over it...

Looks like a mismatch between DLE-XP and D2X-XL. Mind posting a DLE-XP bug report so I won't forget to fix it?

This sounds like that bug I reported on "TGA textures appearing upside down in DLE-XP (but right side up everywhere else)"

The problem is that it only happens with some textures or faces, but that D2X-XL seems to display them all properly (or doesn't it)?

Now you can create TGAs upside down or in regular orientation, and if you are using a mix of these, some will have the wrong orientation, as DLE-XP always expects them to be upside down.

It sounds like one of those lovely quirks you get when people can't figure out whether (0,0) should be the top left or bottom left for their image format.

Problem is that both orientations is allowed - DLE-XP just doesn't deal properly with them.

D2X-XL's display agrees with IrfanView, if that makes a difference.

Not really. I need a test case with a flipped texture in DLE-XP that is properly oriented in D2X-XL.
