Question about texture editing...

Postby Pumo » Sat Jan 19, 2008 6:11 am

This is my question:
There is a way to edit other textures on DLE-XP besides the listed ones?
I would like to edit some Key powerups on DLE-XP (to insert hi-res TGA for keys) and add them into POG files...
There is a way to do this?

(i would want hi-res versions inside POG files 'cause i want different key graphics per level, and DTX2 can't store hi-res POG files)

Not as far as I know. D2X-XL might be able to read these textures directly out of the HOG file, though - but I can't be sure of that either.

You cannot edit any other textures with DLE-XP than those in its list, and D2X-XL cannot read replacement textures from the hog file ... yet. ;)

Ask and ye ... errrm, well ... might be given (if I can pull it off).

That would be nice! I will ask for this on SF.NET feature request...

BTW, You think that making custom textures support not per HOG file, but per individual levels it's feasible?
This way i could use different custom graphics in each single level on multi-level missions ;)

Which is ... more difficult.

At times like this it'd be nice if more people thought to open-source tools unless absolutely necessary - things like this start to make DTX2 and most of the Descent Network stuff useless.

Anyway Diedel, don't worry too much about this stuff... If you can do it is right, but if not, i can live without it.
I think i discovered a method to insert Hi-res textures on DLE-XP and usin' them as key/hostage graphics (usin' my custom Pumo Mines HAM file)... ;)
