Secret Level teleports

Postby Yokelassence » Mon Jul 21, 2008 2:40 am

My objective is simple: link my completed secret level to the rest of my mission

Unfortunately I cannot figure out how to assign my teleport to the appropriate level. I keep getting that 'invalid level number' error.

If anyone can kindly show me how its done I will submit to you an award of 500 internetz :)

Thank you for your time

The teleport must simply have type "secret level". What secret level is called from a secret level teleport depends on the mn2 file, which needs an entry for each level that contains a secret exit:
mn2 wrote:d2x-name = Warp Shockwave 2.0
type = normal
num_levels = 6
wfactory.rl2
sewerats.rl2
icecavrn.rl2
nautilus.rl2
volcano.rl2
warplab.rl2
num_secrets = 1
weaptest.rl2,4

This means that weaptest.rl2 is the (first and only secret level), and that level 4 (nautilus.rl2) contains a secret exit leading to level weaptest.rl2.

Judging from d2x.mn2, I suspect the secret level is valid from the level it is assigned to until it gets overridden by a new one - kind of like a state machine or something - but there aren't too many reasons you'd need to use it like that.

There was duplicate line in my mn2 quote above.

Whenever I try to add a secret level to my mission, dle-xp increments the base level number by 1. Does this mean if I want the secret level to be on level 7, I have to say it's on level 6, or does cpu.rl2,8, actually mean it's on level 7?
