[POST] : New game of the decade times.

Postby pokeman7452 » Fri Dec 04, 2009 4:22 pm

I feel the other topic was getting a little confusing with three different times mentioned. That and sykes having the first post made it hard to organize. This will discuss NEW TIMES on December 12th. NEW TIME:

12:00 PM Pacific (PST)
02:00 PM Central (CST)
03:00 PM Eastern (EST)
08:00 PM UK
09:00 PM France, Spain, Germany
06:30 AM (Sun) Central Australia
09:00 AM (Sun) Yokelassence

Attending:
pokeman7452
Sirius
PGMYRHNO / matt
Thraka
blarget
karx11erx
Pumo
Weyrman
Mahona
Alter-fox (+brother)
AlecFalcon
Yokelassence
Ionospherenegate

Possibly:
Sapphire Wolf
AUS-RED-5

Please respond if you can play at these new times. Please discuss potential times on the other thread, so no one gets confused. If you wish to participate, you must have steam and know how to join the d2x-xl chat on it. Contact me or Sykes for more info. Please make sure your copy of d2x-xl is updated and working. A headset or mic for voice chat is highly recommended.

Get the map pack for the event here. To be safe, rename your missions folder to something else, create a new missions folder in your D2X-XL installation folder, and copy only d2x.hog and d2x.mn2 (these are the Vertigo files) and the contents of the 12plus player map archive into it.

Maaan, poor Aus! Also, instead of changing my sig link, I just added a link to here in my first post. My thread explains WHY we're having this game, and this thread explains HOW. ;)

Diedel's Playground seems to be very popular. I think old-time players would also like to play in Descent II Stadium. And who wouldn't like to duke it out on Pandemonium? I thought about Sirius' FV-24B map, but that's designed for 4 players. We're gonna play that one this weekend instead.

Just some ideas. We could also do Gigadeath2, but Sirius always wins (as if he doesn't win otherwise).

Done. Just have to make sure I leave the 12th free, but all the to-dos are this weekend.

P.S. Scanning the level spotlight, a couple I remember that are well-suited to 8 players are Deadbolt and Keg Party. There may be others but I usually only got the chance to look at the more mainstream stuff closely. I still remember most of the levels DH and I made though, some of which are possibly suitable.

Also, if we run out of player slots, I don't mind playing 1-on-1 side games. There are a lot of levels that work pretty well for those, too.

We shouldn't really have to worry about overbooking, as everyone will be in Steam. We might be able to have a tournament. As for levels, we will need to organize a list by Friday. I might be able to finish team death if I devote an entire day to it. I stopped working on it when school started.

Out of all of us, there's a good 6 who are able to host. So side-games if we fill up are very possible. I'd put together a list of maps to play, but most of you guys have been with Descent forever, and you know the classics. I have 2700 missions to sift through...

Also, we should do The Anarchy D1 Levels for D2, can't remember their names :(

Ah yes, "Total Chaos for Descent 2". It's a recreation of the official Descent 1 multiplayer levels for Descent 2. Some of them are shoddy, others are mirror images. I guess the primary benefits are that it's legal to distribute, doesn't require Descent 1, and has D2 weaponry... But I'd still prefer the original Chaos if we all had it.

I'll keep that in mind. I'll add everyone's suggestions into one compressed file, and then throw it up for grabs closer to the 12th so we all have the same maps. I believe I have almost every released mission in existence :? I downloaded the entire package of maps from Planet Descent, and everything from this site

May I suggest TombZ of DeZtruKtion? It's tad on the large side, but should work with eight players. Another neat MP level would be Pyromaniac.
