Great job working that out. Now the question is that is it safe to do that tomorrow.

Anarchy should work fine tomorrow. As of the time of this edit, I just got done playing a quick 5-man game with Weyrman, Blarget, Mahona, and Pumo. I found a very bad bug pretty quickly, and I'm sure it will be fixed when Diedel takes a look at it. Although, the results were not as I had hoped. Team Anarchy worked, but every game we played (both Team and normal Anarchy) had it's handful of issues. Mahona crashed at least 8 times, Pumo had trouble connecting to the servers every time he tried, Blarget received a full de-sync (bullets freeze in air, you can see everyone, nobody can see you) once, and a few other issues came up.

I'm hoping these were freak accidents, because it's nothing I can reproduce locally. I was able to host a 14 player game consistently with no join problems (given people don't join at the same time).

Find them here on SF.net in 12plus-player-maps.rar or on my web site.

I downloaded this set and looked through them. The shield regenerator in the Styx level doesn't seem to work, or is there a trick to it that I need to know?

The other levels with shield regenerators in them worked fine.

Sykes,

no bug report -> no bug fix!

I am pretty sure there will be no big match today!

Well, normal anarchy played well enough on my side on the tests we ran today, so i think we can still manage to play.

I don't actually think it's a bug though. It only happened to certain people. I couldn't reproduce it, so I had nothing to report. Other people can report bugs too

My tips for today:

A) Don't let people join in the Player Browser. If you do, then once you enter the mine, ALL of them try to rejoin the game at the same time. Lots of people get disconnected, and on rare occassions crash when they try to join at the same time. Skip past the player browser as fast as possible, and let people join once you get in the mine. I would also recommend making it "Restricted" in case the infamous Cherry shows up (he's a German player who joins online games all the time, and hosts some with his friends. He's not on the forums, so I'm also assuming he won't be updated by the time the game starts)

B) Don't use Default profile! Make sure you join with your own, unique name! Make a copy of the Default profile and rename it if you have to, but don't use Default. Sometimes problems can come up if the game sees two people with the same name, and with the whole color thing being imperfect, it'd be best to use your name anyway.

C) CTRL + ALT + T switches team! The game doesn't auto-balance the teams in team games, and just throws everyone on team blue. So be sure to switch teams accordingly! Also, F7 is a very helpful key in Team games. It changes how the player list is displayed, so you can see all of the players in the game, and not just the two teams.

D) Use Steam, and stay in the group chat! If possible, set it up so you can read the chat while playing. With so many people, Steam chat will really make things go a lot smoother. It also has voice capability in case you really do want to play full screen. That way, someone else who has voice can let you know what's going on in the chat. I know Weyrman, Pokeman, and Diedel have voice capability...

E) Be patient. There will be problems. Deal with them like you would any other problem, and just try to have fun. We're breaking a record here, remember, so if we get anywhere over 8 players, it's a success ;)

Teams don't get balanced when new players join?

Nope, but that didn't cross my mind as a bug. I guess I never really played Team games in original Descent; I thought that was how it usually works.

I just examined the code, and it should balance teams.

I believe it. I guess you'll see what I mean soon enough. ;) Not that I'm hoping it doesn't work, or anything... Heck if the bug never shows up again, great!

Its Sunday the 13th. The big day is coming up after I get some sleep. I'll check in, in 8 hours and see if its Saturday evening for you guys yet. :D

I was going to download the latest version tonight but I guess I will wait in case there are any last minute updates. I know you guys are working really hard on this.

Do we have a list of confirmed levels to download yet?

Oops, according to the debugger it doesn't when the players do not join via the player browser.

Yoke,

levels see above.

Sirius,

if you send me the level you mentioned I'll put it in the level package.

Blarget made a level called the "12th Arena" specifically for this event. We did a beta test last night, and there were still some kinks in it, but that could have been caused by Mahona and Pumo (who were having computer troubles at the time). If Blarget wants to play it today, expect a download link to be thrown up in Steam chat at one point. I don't think he contacted Diedel about putting it in the package like I recommended.
