Beltran wrote:I saw you !.. I got ya a few times as well. You should have stayed. :)

Next time I catch you retreating I wont pursue so close. You got me with the smart missile twice doing that. ;)

I did stick around but I just couldn't see anyone :( I knew you guys were there, I could pick up your powerups and markers.

But my guess is that I am simply too remote to stay in sync with the server.

I might have better luck if someone hosts a game in Australia, my ping in Australian servers should be closer to 150-200 making connectivity more reliable.

US servers are around 300-400 and European servers are over 500. Pings above 200 generally cause problems in most games. I need better internet too.

Aww man, yea sykes is going to have our heads :(

I had a ton of fun too with everyone and I'm sure it's unanimous that we should do this again sometime with more of the bugs fixed :P

I am also very glad that Deidel was able to find all of the really bad bugs that occured and fixed them :D

Beltran is a very defensive player. He's smart, so he retreats when he's fighting a losing battle. Whenever you get the jump on him, he starts to run and throws smart missiles against the floor and walls. He ALWAYS gets me with those Smart traps! It's amazing how one's personality really changes how he plays Descent. No two people play the same! I can tell who I'm fighting just by looking at them.

I'm SUPER SUPER happy this turned out well at all! I got skeptical after playing that game with Pumo and Mahona, but no matter what happened it was a win-win situation.

A) Popularity has skyrocketed! Not only have existing members realized how fun multiplayer is (see why I haven't gotten past level 7 in SP? ;)), but new players who have never played before are also joining in!

B) Diedel himself was there to see every problem that came up, and look at the results! He fixed the problems! Not only that, he was excited to fix them! And he didn't have to dig through 10 of my false bug reports and 3 hours worth of code to figure it out, either!

C) You just played the biggest Descent game in history. According to the reports I got, you guys reached 10+ players. That may not be 16, but that's more than 8, right? Do you realize the significance in what you guys have taken part in? :D

I'm really happy to see this become such a success. And I'm DEFINITELY gonna be able to make it next time!

Pumo,

it makes all the difference whether you know and like the people you are playing together with or not. I wish we could have a LAN party one day (better sooner than later).

here is a question for you guys. what is your most memorable part of the game?

mine was when there was 7 people in the main room on my level consistently unloading at each other in a circling fashion.

I'm finally getting around to posting this. It was fun having everybody play together. I'm sure it's an went we will remeber.

I'd say my most memorable part was wasting a mega missile on a clone. And cherry freezing blarget's computer. Lol

Yeah, I got some of that (low FPS) in subspace as well. Not quite sure what was doing it.

Scoreboard after Styx maybe? It's been a long time since I saw 95%.

I had actually had no lag issues, except when blarget joined the game on subspace with cherry and it crashed. also the clones of the host. Besides that it worked perfectly. thank you cox.

I just found out why I wasn't visible when hosting. My router firewall was set to forward the D2X-XL ports for a certain local IP address, and when I installed Win7, dynamic IP allocation was enabled. The result was that one D2X-XL running on my main machine couldn't see a second instance running on the same machine as host on the tracker. I assigned a fixed local IP address to my computer and should now be visible on the tracker when hosting.

Don't ya love that? I hate when I work so hard to forward all the right ports (which really IS quite a bit of work on my dad's Linux firewall) only to find out I get a new IP address next time I reboot. But now that Dizzy is also running NAT for multiple other computers, his IP is hard coded.

Isn't it funny how you start to address a computer as a person as soon as it has a name ("Dizzy ... he ...")?
