D2X-XL Galactic Event III

Postby Sykes » Tue May 04, 2010 5:26 pm

Alrighty then, let's cut to the chase. I'm going to throw an example date up here with all times specified (copy+paste what pokeman did last time). Let me know if you can make it or not, and if not, let me know what will work better. Some people will take more priority than others for obvious reasons, like Diedel. I'm willing to choose a date I can't even make if it's the only date Diedel and Aus-RED can make, but the overall goal is to get as many people together to play at the same time.

These are the proposed times for the event for all relevant time zones. There are two options for the event now. Let me know which one works better for you. I basically swapped morning and night for America and Australia and moved it forward 2 more hours for option 2. The second option also leaves Europe open to the entire midday, but it's a Friday so they might be working.

Friday May 21st:
05:00 PM PDT (California)
08:00 PM EDT (Washington D.C.)
Saturday May 22nd:
01:00 AM BST (U.K.)
02:00 AM CEST (Germany, France, Spain)
09:30 AM CST (Central Australia)
12:00 PM NZST (New Zealand)

Be sure you have Steam and are in the D2X-XL Steam group! If you can't find it, add childofmaud (me) as a friend and I'll invite you. All of the action will happen in the group chat room. If you're not in there, you'll have a low chance of joining in because we'll probably have some maps and possibly updates released through the chat.[/b]

That means little hope for AUS-RED-5, I'd suggest you knock all the times forward at least 2 hours.

Thanks Pokeman. I'm no good with the timezone stuff :P

Diedel and Aus-RED are the hardest to work together. I'll have to wait and see how late Diedel and Aus are willing to stay up, or how early Aus wants to wake up.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I mean this in the nicest possible way.

If you guys are truly working around Diedel and I?

Then I would suggest Diedel pick a time - start to finish that he can do.

Seems like every time you guys pic times. It's us Aussies who have to get up well before the sun even rises. :?
If anybody should be getting up early this time..... it should be some Americans. Not us.....

Try putting the shoe on the other foot.....

That's quite a window. I'll see what I can do when Diedel says when he's up for playing.

Aus, I don't see that rude at all. I see where you're coming from. I know it's hard because I keep scheduling it in American's favor. The majority of players are American, so I admit I did tune it to be most convenient for American players. Trying to fit Americans, Aussies, and Europeans into the same event is hard without inconveniencing some people.
Although the last two events were tuned towards Americans. To be fair, I'll try to make it easier for the players on the eastern half of the world to attend this time. It will all depend on Diedel's preferred time.

Yeah far enough... I'm American who lives in Aus, so I know how it is. :P

I can still be flexible with the times. 5:30am is way too much for me.

8am is the earliest I'll do.....

Right. I seem to remember Diedel saying that he's usually busy around dinner time (for obvious reasons), and he also doesn't like staying up late. If I can push it later, I will. That way Diedel will be playing around midnight or 1 AM, but you'll be playing at 10 AM and Americans will still be playing in the afternoon.

At the time of your last post. It would be about 10:45pm Tuesday.

It's 1:15pm Wed for me. ;) So the times shouldn't be so bad once we work them out. ;)

Well, the problem is that Europe, Australia, and the east coast, make nearly equal thirds of the Earth, so finding a good time for all three is hard. You have to put night somewhere, and current times put it over Asia. Putting night over the Pacific would work better, but I believe karx can only play 10pm-1am, making this the only option. I still suggest you move all the times forward 2-3 hours.

Alright I moved the times forward two hours. If the changes won't work for you, let me know.
