That version is not UDP/IP multiplayer compatible with newer ones.

Anyway, 1.6? That version has no effects, nothing!?

not only that. That version could create problems for others with the current version of D2X-XL. :(

That's what I said. If 1.6 hosts, newer version users can't join. If a newer version hosts, 1.6 users can't join. (Only UPD/IP affected.)

Sorry.

I was think in the past.

I remember a time when older and newer versions could join, but because of the mix. There were lots of bugs and so on.

That problem was a different one. D2X-XL didn't separate D2X-XL specific and legacy data blocks in the multiplayer data sent. So other Descent versions didn't always process all data sent to them by D2X-XL because they stopped processing a data package as soon as they encountered a data block with an id unknown to them. ;)

FYI: 1.13.127 multiplayer is broken.

You will need an older program version.

What I can also say is that connecting via the tracker works for me; so if ppl have problems here it might be their firewall/AV settings. Make sure D2X-XL can pass through your AV program (e.g. NAV) - sometimes their message windows stay hidden behind the game window, so you never notice it and fail to allow D2X-XL to access the inet.

It has to go in a subfolder named "data", and there's more subfolders needed. RTFM.

I know that but i think its cause i saw installation help on descent2.de

and that helped slightly but i there are loads of files that it sais are there but arent.

i can just get it to start but when i try to even fire or turn round a corner it freezes.

It also says not to worry about the ones that are missing. It seems conventional wisdom as of the right now is to grab .126 and try that - if there are still issues read through the troubleshooting guides. Most problems seem to have simple solutions as of late.

Why the hell do people always want to play these played to death maps from the last 1 1/2 decades!!! :rage:

Always the same old crap, never try something new! What's wrong with you?! :thumbdn:

Hey buddy, I'm just throwing some ideas out there. I'd rather try something new to be honest. I usually get my ass beat anyways, especially since I am not attuned to my new joystick setup :(

Postby Phozonblaster » Sun Jan 18, 2009 12:51 pm

the levels like subspace and tombz still freeze up

Postby Phozonblaster » Sun Jan 18, 2009 1:03 pm

it looks like well have to play an older multi level then.

even then it could be a bit slow :(
but its worth a try (i think :? )

one of the levels that works is house of descent.

too bad if u dont like it.

sorry for this though
