All non Descent related stuff. Keep it civilized, this is not an NHB area.

Me too! I find it fascinating even if I don't understand some of it at times. :D

mea culpa mea culpa mea maxima culpa. ie, I was wrong diedel, -sound22k appears to not have been the culprit in causing odd sound errors. I just checked. I guess I remembered wrongly because it seemed odd to have the instructions: use hires_sound 2 which, I thought, was indicated to be 44khz sounds while also having the instructions: use -sound22k.

Oddly enough, I began to understand d2x-xl first from the patchnotes, secondly from the worklog, and thirdly from the development blah thread, and fourthly from using google to filter through the forums.

It isn't that I dont want to read anything, I have a bad habit of reading everything, then getting confused. :wallbash: I always miss the easiest explanation that is right under my nose.

I have a bad habit of going to extreme lengths to get old games I want to play to work. Rather than be bored with Quake 3, I remember using virtualbox to create a Windows 2000 installation just so I could run Starship Titanic (I heard it was good) using the precise version of Quicktime that the game wanted. I didnt want to break iTunes on my current Windows XP of the time by installing Quicktime, what was it? 3.0?

One of these days I am going to find a copy of win95 and use virtualbox to run some very old games indeed.

I'd skip Windows versions and go to DOS to run old games.

I read the dev blah often too (but I think Karx knew that, since I also respond to it :P).

As a musician I consider iTunes to be total crap - I can't add my own songs without going through a ridiculous process involving programs that I could use in place of iTunes. Also why I've never used an iPod.

iTunes, like most of Apple's software, tries to take over your system. Only way I'd want to touch it again is running Linux off a thumb drive entitled "Apple STDs".

STDs? As in standards, or as in STIs? :lolol:

No, I mean that the word standard could be shortened to STD... I've seen it done before - not the smartest way to shorten the word for sure :P.

I do not consider Apple software standard. So, your other guess was right!

In the old days, we got viruses from floppy disks. USB drives have brought all that back and more.

Not many operating systems would like being run from an external device, but in the days before hard disks that was standard practice. So, if anything modern can cope with it, I figure Linux can.

As i progress in computer science, so does my general understanding of the things this kind of project demands, and the dev blah is pretty sweet in that regard.
