Descent like game called: Retrovirus

All non Descent related stuff. Keep it civilized, this is not an NHB area.

I have had a discussion about the superiority of the joystick a couple of years ago (when defending mouselook in D2X-XL, where mouselook meant unlimited ship turn speed with the mouse), and it ended with the statement that some of the best Descent 1+2 players ever had been mousers.

Just as a heads up, we're going to be planning a Descent community test here in the coming weeks. It's going to be really limited, and the goal is going to be to get experienced Descent players to give their direct input on our movement scheme. Once we get that sorted out I'll post here for details!

Running a stream on own3d.tv/cydereal right now while crunching for a deadline tomorrow. Nothing official, of course, but if you're around and want to watch some of our editor in action you're welcome to join!

I'm gonna be showing off our multiplayer PvPvE mode this Wednesday though. It is super fun.

I livestream every Wednesday night at 6:00pm US Pacific time.

Our latest VOD is here: http://www.own3d.tv/cadenzainteractive/video/643710

We did an on-stream play session of our MOBA mode. Very preliminary, particularly for level art, but we had a blast playing :)

I know a few people missed out on our stream last time, so I'll bump here and post. If that's intrusive and annoying, just let me know :)

We're on tonight live at 6:00pm US Pacific time, and the VOD will be up at around 7:15pm.

Nahh, it's all good! Just a shame that the time differences are sooo out of wack for me. When you have these streams, I'm at work. :(

I got a notification from own3D telling me the stream was active.

The stream did happen, on Wednesday night as it always does. I think Blarget just saw we were streaming on another forum and thought it was that night but it was the night before?

VOD is up on http://www.own3d.tv/cadenzainteractive either way :)

Our stream is postponed this week due to some in-house deadlines and stuff being shuffled around. We're going to stream tomorrow night (Thursday, June 7th) at 6:00pm US Pacific time. :)

We're getting a Kickstarter going for Retrovirus. It went up Friday, but I was at MLG, lol @_@

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cad ... retrovirus

After a lot of conversation with the Descent communities that I've been introduced to, and a look at Cadenza's finances, we came to the conclusion as a team that we had to raise funds to meet our goal with our Paragon design tool. Our tools are going to be great in the hands of Descent players like you guys, particularly as you guys try to recreate the most accurate Descent-like mods. To make sure that everything is polished and documented, though, and to release the tool at the same time as the game itself, we have to effectively do "presales" via Kickstarter.

If we don't succeed, we'll still release the game and the editor, but the editor will be available after a few months of sales come in so we can support ourselves. The incentive for you guys is, we'll have a closed beta with the tools available if Kickstarter is successful. I'd love to have a tools beta with this community in particular, because I know you guys are going to be really vocal about wants and needs.

It means a lot that you guys have given us feedback and support. Whether you back us or not doesn't change that! Still, I figured the Kickstarter might be of interest to some of you. Thanks again!
