All non Descent related stuff. Keep it civilized, this is not an NHB area.

I'm still playing D2X-XL every few days -- I play singleplayer almost exclusively now because... thing.
And there's a not-so-secret project going on to remake Descent in a modern way on UDK. Some people say it might not work out or ever get finished; but if we all had that mindset we'd all fail by not even starting. Plus we now have Miner Wars and soon we'll have Retrovirus too.
And there are D3 games on Vortex every day but they're all in levels I hate. Of course some may debate whether D3 is really Descent...

...And I'm working on Pumo Mines again, finished most of Level 4 and making Level 5 now at a steady and constant pace, so at least for me Descent is far from dying ;) , but as an online community, yeah, I could agree the community is goin' a bit down. :P

As long as you find good test chambers to solve
The game is turning more and more into trackmania

SomeONE might eeven understand this post
But the forum edits out all the extra spaces between my words so I don't sound like that computer

I do understand it, but I even liked those parts. The sense of incredible vastness some levels convey is simply breath taking.

I have recently been working through D1 on dosbox (via GOG.) I feel like such a traitor, but there is something oddly satisfying about playing it at 300x240.

I adore playing D1 on DOSBox, the vertex trembling due to the old engine gives me a satisfaction rebirth nor any other port does not. D2 however is too heavy for the DOSBox machine... :D and it does not feel so much a DOS game like D1 is (which is partly true considering the win95 version of D2).

I believe we misjudge the future of decent by "connected" multiplayer activity. By connected, I mean what we realise is happening via our links to the community, but a lot of groups might be playing out there, at times. If we keep probing the tracker constantly, we might be surprised at how many games pop up here and there, and this is only for our known ports of the game. The rest go un-tracked by choice. However the most significant reason why MP is not indicative of the future is the excellent single player campaigns available to both games, not only the original but the masterpieces published through the decade(s). Figure how THAT goes untracked. I believe what goes idle in Descent right now is connected multiplayer activity, and port development. But that sounds more like a break.
