Actually, my laptop with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M is only playable if I run it with a framecap of either 10 or 20 fps (i can't remember) which is only possible in the debug version. This is on lowest everything except resolution (1280x768). It ran fine with medium settings before the menu was redone. The 1.14 betas ran and still run fine. DXX runs perfectly, of course.
What's the difference between not capping the frame rate and capping it? Right, D2X-XL will run faster uncapped. Capping only inserts a loop after each frame where XL idles for a while to keep the frame rate down. A loop during which D2X-XL does nothing - not compute any effects, not determine lighting, nothing. How should that make it work, or work smoother? Posting what you wrote above is about the biggest bullshit I have read in a while. I also didn't say it works on all machines, you goddamn attention craving fool.
