If you want to play 40 good levels, you're better off playing Apocalyptic Factor and Enemy Within back to back. ;)

Hi all,

I'm owning this CD. I buy it online as Isoimage some years ago (1998?) :-) for 4.99$. It was as I got a 3CD-bundle from Gamestop.com for 11$. Shipping with Fedex was 25$ :-)
It contains 61 missions, some with more levels. 13 of them are also on the LOW-CD. Crap or not is a personal thing. Sometimes I have fun to play those; Retrofeeling :-)
The image is 6mb. If someone can confirm that it is legal I can upload it.

regards, Irontower

Does LaserSoft even exist anymore? If they don't then chances are they wont care if you copy the level set. The entire level set is community work that was done for free anyway, not their intellectual property. Otherwise check the copyright.

Rather than send an image, just pack all the mission files (*.RDL, *.MSN, *.HOG) into a RAR archive and send that.

That way we can unRAR all the levels straight into our mission folders and bypass the annoying 1998 installation process.

I recognize 90% of those level names, and they all came with my Levels of the World Descent CD. So....honestly....nothing really new except for a few fresh ones.

Mostly crap. Many smallish, badly structured levels with ill lighting. Some levels have more walls or segments than D1 allows. Some are duplicates with different texturing. Some hog files contain duplicates of standalone levels. Some reuse elements of others and obviously have been made by the same author who recycled some of his structures (look at the huge spheres with a small one inside). One level (wild_3) even simply is levels 1, 7 and 27 from Descent 1:First Strike!

If these levels really are exactly those from Dimensions For Descent, then it looks like they took whatever fan made missions came their way, put them on a CD and sold it. Taking money for something like that imo is fraud.

Burn the witch!!!!!

I hate that kind of stuff. There is a guy on ebay australia that keeps selling the commander keen shareware games for $15 or something, and he also is selling the freeware remakes on Kings Quest 1, 2, 3 that some internet teams made for free.

But of course, selling those missions back then was at least somewhat acceptable. For a lot of people, it might have been the only way to get them. Now though, if you can get to ebay, you can download those shareware\freeware games.

Now, where is my BBS #, I need to download some new descent levels.. :)

Well, if you want to get a whole lot of great missions for absolutely free, you can grab all the hand picked levels I am hosting on my web site in one big download from the dowlnads page (~82 MB).
