Guess whe have been a little old fashioned here? :P
It seems, I still associate D2 with that good ol' config.sys menuitem I was using, when I started playing it on my first computer (486 100 MHz / Matrox Millenium) .
D2X-XL is IMHO still the best game ever, alongside KICK OFF 2, BoulderDash/EmeraldMine and a serious Doppel-Kopf.
Playing bass in a good band happens to be the next best thing, that is, besides my wonderful wife of course -;)

But Doppelkopf is a traditional card game, right?

I see some rather ... interesting, to say the least, configs here... the only explanation I can come up with for RED-5 mapping the left/right slide keys but not up/down is that he doesn't actually use the keys for sliding...

Since I play mostly with the mouse these days I'll post that:

Accelerate: Space
Reverse: A
Afterburner: Z
Slide left: S
Slide right: F
Slide up: E
Slide down: D
Bank left: W
Bank right: R
Fire flare: G
Drop bomb: B
Automap: Tab
Convert: T
Headlight: H
Toggle bomb: V

Fire primary: Left mouse button
Fire secondary: Right mouse button
Vertical axis inverted (got too used to FPS games)

This config works especially well in XL since mouse turn speed isn't broken there... and no, I'm not talking about mouselook, that's even faster.

Still getting used to the afterburner key since I don't use it much in that position... but this configuration at least does make trichording quite easy to do.

Yeah, Wheeze!

I've found that Wheeze's control setup is by far the easiest to use... your hands sit nicely on the keys and all features are easily accessible.

When I use the mouse, I use the mouse wheel to slide up and down.
Then z and c keys from the KB to slide L & R.

The Logitech MX Rev mouse wheel has an option to allow the wheel to move freely.
Sliding up and down is smooth and easy. ;)

So yeah, I do use all keys setting I have + KB, JS and mouse when I play.

Do you guys really use all 6DOF at once?
I don't see how some of the config allow you to do that, do they?
So, do you (like to) dogfight at all?
Because those configs do look 2 me more like robot-fighting/sneaking than "head to head 6dof-dogfight" ... no ofense!
