Hey Karx,

I just upgraded form v1.17.102 to v1.17.105 and D1 savegames are working well. Thanks very much, maybe I'll finally play all the way through the original campaign after all these years! :D I tried saving and loading in D2 and Vertigo just to see and they work fine also.

Now of course I've found a couple of other problems. I'm not at home so I can't post a proper ticket to sourceforge but I thought I'd tell you about them anyway and in which campaign I encountered them. (I'll make tickets when I can)

-Descent 1: The reactors no longer fire at the player.
-Descent 2 Vertigo: Players are unkillable. Your shield can be reduced to 0 but after that you cannot die
-All modes: HUD text that should be red is now yellow (Guidebot messages, selected weapons in the minimalist HUD, etc.)

As always, thanks for all your efforts.

I thought I'd do all the Descent newbies a favor. ;)

Selected weapons are intentionally yellow.

Edit: Player immortality and D1 reactor bugs have been fixed and a new D2X-XL version is online.

Great fixes Karx. I just died to a Descent 1 reactor

Unfortunately, In version 1.17.108 the D1 savegame glitch is back and behaving exactly the way it did before. I don't know if you'd like another ticket for that on sourceforge but I can start one if you like.

On a happy note, Shadow_Hyena and I just had a great, multiple hour long, anarchy session. There were a couple on problems with different map versions to start, and it looks like I can't personally host (unconfigurable router) but once we got up and running, D2X-XL was completely stable :joy:

On a less happy note :rage: , at the end we tried to do a bit of coop in Descent 2: Vertigo and it had a problem that made it unplayable. Whenever one of us fired a weapon or flare, the other player got locked in place and macro messages flashed below the reticle. I tried many times to capture screenshots of the phenomenon but the messages do not appear on the screenshots so I can't show you what they look like. I have no clue what this is about but I thought you ought to know.

The savegame glitch isn't back then, it's probably still there and you somehow triggered it. I don't know what causes it. Please post another bug ticket with your savegame (I still have your player data).

I'm glad you found that multiplayer bug Karx. I'm really looking forward to some coop.
On Sunday I'll download version 1.17.109 and see if anyone wants to play.

It seems that while I was at work today that savegame bug in version 1.17.108 went away on its own  I just played through the first three levels of Descent 1 saving, loading, quitting, and reloading over and over and it worked every time. I even swapped back and forth between D1, D2, and Vertigo successfully. I don't know why it failed last night but I'll keep an eye out in case it comes back. So no bug ticket for now.

I don't understand it but I'm glad it works. :P

The savegame bug seems to be triggered by very special circumstances. The one I fixed had to do with small fireballs on damaged / exploding objects being present while saving.

Yoshi,

if you have a corrupted savegame made after my savegame fix, please post a bug ticket containing it anyway. I want to look into it; Maybe I can find out what else is wrong there.

Sorry Karx. I accidentally overwrote the corrupted savegame by going too fast when I was saving. :( If the glitch happens again, I'll make sure you get a copy of the save.

BTW I just read you release note for version 110. It makes me wish we had smart phoenix missiles (mostly as a joke but I'm sure fun could be had with them). Didn't Descent 2 have a cheat that made all of your weapons bounce like the phoenix cannon, maybe it was "duddaboo?"

Overwritten? That sucks.

Yes, it has. My Descent site has all cheat codes in a list - see the menu at the side.

Hi Karx.

The good news: Your multiplayer fixes continue to do what you want them to and the networking seems to get more and more stable and reliable.

The bad news: Some new (and some old) bugs.

- Homing weapon problems. Whiteshark brought this up and others of us have seen it too.
- transitioning from Descent 1: Level 5 to Level 6 causes the game to lockup and crash to desktop (my log file shows a memory access violation). I know this is open on sourceforge already but I'll add my data to the ticket as well.
- A very minor/unimportant glitch. In Descent 2 robot briefings, the robot model does not appear next to its description.

I reposted my player profile in the Homing Weapons ticket and I'll add my other files to the other appropriate tickets.

I just tested homing weapons. At least those fired by robots work well. Whitesharks descriptions does not give enough information, but I would prefer handling this via the bug ticket system on Sourceforge.
