Does anyone have some older versions of D2X-XL?

Postby GuideBot17 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:34 pm

I have a compatibility issue with my GFX card which is causing low fps in D2X-XL.

Does anybody here mind PMing me some older versions of D2X-XL (most preferably the lastest 1.14 version, 1.14.172, some older 1.15 versions, etc.)?

Once again, sorry If I'm being a pain by asking. I just want to find out what changes to D2X-XL my graphics card didn't like.

It's funny that it worked with older program versions, but doesn't do so with the new ones, which use less memory and deal better with low end graphics hardware.

Did you try setting '-use_shaders 0' in d2x.ini?

I end up with a lot of versions in my download folder, so I will have a look for you when I get home.

Out of curiosity, does D2X-XL use any graphics acceleration that standard D2 didn't?

Hi,

I have about 2,4 GB old versions of d2x-xl. If Weyrman can´t offer an useful version, give me your email adress by pm.
But one thing must be clear: You won´t get any support for old versions.

As far as I have understood him, he only wants to find out what change to D2X-XL caused the problems on his machine. That would actually be an interesting pointer for me, too.

-use_shaders 0 in the INI gave me around 50 FPS.

I'll add this to the other topic discussion.

This may already be resolved, but if source code for older versions is needed, I have versions 1.14.88, 1.14.117, 1.14.156, 1.14.156, 1.14.182, and 1.14.190 (source code only). PM me if you need any of these versions. I don't have the original 7z compressed files, but I could re-archive any of these and either email it or post to a publicly available download area on my server.

The Sourceforge SCM keeps a history of every revision made to the source since it was put there. Karx has also tagged all of the major versions for easier lookup. The source of every version of d2x-xl since 1.6.193 can be retrieved by specifying a revision here. (So you don't have to hold onto them ;-))

I recently discovered a setting in the NVIDIA control panel that is left on by default, and will cause reduced performance in D2X-XL.

If you have an NVIDIA card, I recommend checking this thread out:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2590

It may help you further increase your performance.
