shield spheres?

Postby -JoFFa- » Sat Nov 24, 2007 3:39 pm

Is the same shield model used for all robots? Is it possible to make a different sphere for each? Its not a feature request - its a question.

As I know it is not a model, it's simply ingame rendered sphere.
What do you exaclty mean, whalt should be differrent?

I think that all the robots shields should be ths same color as the robots arrmor.
ex:class 1 robots would have gold shields and the mini boss would have a purple shield.

visually - if sphere is the one single model used for all - then i guess i cannot create offset models for different robots - so it would look like they got shield which repeats their geometry volume.

Thats what i meant. And if for each robot there can be different shield model geometry then i guess i would recreate the shields for each robot.

A shield is just energy, not a reflection of a robot's surface. I chose to have robot shields purple, player and guide bot blue, invul white, hit orange. I won't change that.

I don't think it's a good idea, it would be a lot of work and possible it would kill the FPS, cause of the shield models.
And like Diedel said, I like the shields as they are. ;)

There's no difference performance wise between rendering X faces for a software generated sphere or one from a model definition.
