I always support defenestration, especially with things as crunchy as computers.

knightfire, I reckon your problems are related to your graphics card. As far as I can see there is no point in you posting bug reports. Are you able to afford a better graphics card? Even if you still need an AGP card there are useful ones still available, like a Radeon X1900 pro.

Yes though I never really thought about it. Honestly D2xxl is the most intense computer gaming I do. Most of what I play are console games.

To clarify: I'm not against getting one, and I'm not HORRIBLY bad with computers. I'm just bad at judging lower end cards as far as whats good but not too much. I don't want to blow $80-100 on something that will never truly get used.

Yeah Diedel is correct it's like a RGB issue, something with your VGA card's VPU is at stake here.

Known issue as for me as that goes, I have had this with some Engineering Samples I had in the past, just get a new VGA card and you will be fine :)

I got the following bugs. Is there a solution?

- Sound is played with incorrect frequency in D1 missions. Playback is 2 times slower than needed. There are no sound problems in D2 missions. I use downloaded 44kHz sounds and -hires_sound 2. In addition, interferences appear. I hear quiet sh-sh-sh sound on the background each time when the game plays back something. Interferences disappear when the game stops playing sounds.

- Robot preview movies for D2 are not shown before missions (robot preview screen appears, but movie is not visible). Everything is ok in D1 missions.

- Some textures with transparency are displayed incorrectly: transparent parts are black, but blackness does not block projectiles. (I use hi-res textures).

- Escape movies are not played back after mission completion.

- FPS gets dropped from 250 to 11 in battles, lags happen when battle begins and robots make their first shots (precaching can be guilty because everything is fine when I meet the same robots next time).

- D1 level 6 can not be started after competion of level 5. But it starts normaly from the main menu.

- In D1 level 6 briefing the game displays Driller with no "eye". It happens after competion of level 5, but does not happen when you start level 6 from the main menu.

- In D1. After you complete a level and the game displays "Computing lightmaps", next level does not start. The game completes lighting calculation, displays "Preparing for Descent" and crashes. Next level starts normaly if lighting was precalculated before.

You need to download the hires sounds for Descent 1. After extracting the archive there must be a subfolder d1 in your "sounds2" directory. Questions because of sound problems have been answered a hundred times here. So please read first and ask afterwards ;-).

fps dropping: There is a tuning guide in the forum (Nvidia Opti...). This might help. Update your graphics drivers too. Tell us your system specs too.

Everything works fine, but when I turn on "3d glass: anaglyph", briefing video doesn't play, but sound works fine, I can skip briefing and play mission normally, but maybe exists some fix for this?

To see briefing, I turn off anaglyph before mission ends, and at the start of new mission - turn on anaglyph back.
(version (windows): 1.17.42)

Edited: bug ticket 2746 was created.
Edited: bug fixed.
