Bad Hi-res Fan01 texture in Descent 1.

Has anybody else run into the problem where the fan texture is broken such that every-other-frame is cut in half (such that you see a whole fan, then a right-half next to a left-half of the fan texture and back again)?

I've tried various fan texture downloads and none of the high-res fans work. If I rename the texture or delete it, I get the default texture without error.

That bug seems to surface from time to time, but I have never been able to reproduce or fix it.

I always get the tricky ones...

It happens every time I play, if that helps any.

Could it somehow think the texture size is 1 LOD size smaller than it really is and only moves 50% of the "next frame" increment over?

That's my best guess at what's happening. The texture size value is mutating somewhere it shouldn't.

Would a file listing help? If I didn't install one set of high-res textures and that somehow "fixes" the issue or something similar.

Anyway, nice to know I'm not totally alone. I also did have issues with sprites like the shield orb until I installed the models. (Too bad the fan can't be turned into a model.)

Somehow the texture coordinates (uv) are off. Try to delete the contents of D2X-XL's cache folder.

cache delete did nothing (files in root folder!).
Fan from med-res pak works though.
