Usual process is
1) Update video drivers if you haven't already
2) If it's still not working, it'd be helpful to know what kind of video card your machine (by the look of it a Mac) has.

I've used D2X-XL before, without any trouble. Just recently upgraded D2X after upgrading my os to Lion.

Yeah, I had some concerns that you might be running something with poor 3D graphics support. An 8800 GTS is definitely not that, though. If drivers didn't work I'll have to leave it to someone else :) I know few specifics about the Mac version.

It worked until you upgraded to Lion, and now the required (OpenGL) screen mode can´t be set?

=> Gfx driver problem.

As I put in the readme (which none reads. :roll: ) It's a fullscreen issue, try setting it in window mode. \ I always assumed (as a result of my lack of knowledge about code) it was SDL 1.2 which is reportedly malfunctioning with lion in fullscreen mode, as a result of certain graphics calls being depreciated in Lion

it could be Gfx issue, in which case we are sunk till apple makes an OS update and prey that's one of the things changed. .Does anyone with an Ati card get similar results? But I doubt this is strictly the case on basis that no other program has issues outside of the possible SDL one, and even then, most SDL based apps have found some workaround or another.

For instance, there is a built in OS feature in lion for maximizing window applications into a fullscreen mode via giving the application it's own space. I have yet to get this to work with d2x-xl but if Karx is willing to look into it (as far as he can without a mac) it does promise to be a good workaround. I know it is used by some 3rd party applications like Boxer, a dosbox based emulator for mac.

Deidel, would it be useful to you for narrowing this down if I sent you my debug log? Probably not cause its basically the same as what he posted.

If I had the code representing the workaround I could add it, but digging through some other app to find it ... sorry, no way. I've really got enough to do already.

I haven't tried DX2 in over a year. Not sure what version number was out then. Just downloaded the newest after upgrading to Lion. And well it no longer works as you see.

what should I say about people who don´t use the hires-sounds ? Take a look at the posted log. :no:

Spudboy, download the hires-sounds (and all the other hires stuff too), extract them using the stored paths, set

in your d2x-default.ini (or d2x.ini) and play the game at high volume. That´s 8).

Edit: Set a ; in front of the command -fullscreen in your d2x-default.ini (or d2x.ini), and set a smaller screen resolution there (-1024x768 instead of -1920x1200).

Appart from adding a ';' to the fullscreen command as Frusti said,
another way to run the program in windowed mode is to specify '-fullscreen 0' instead of '-fullscreen 1'.
