Lightmaps and Quality/Precission

OK, so I've got this question rounding on my head since some time ago already, and I think it's a good time to ask.

What's the exact difference on Lightmap Quality and Lightmap Precission? what are the results of boosting or lowering each one of those sliders?

What's also the best combination and balance between between Quality and Precission,
and in the end, which one is the most important or have the most impact in visuals, Quality or Precission?

I would really like to know to be well prepared for creating lightmaps for my PM levels.
