White Screen, no response on startup

I've searched all I can for a reproduction of my problem but haven't found one. I've installed Descent 2 and D2X-XL and when I run D2X-XL I get a white screen with the loading cursor icon and Windows says that it's not responding. I think this might be an OpenGL issue because after I force quit the program, the contents of all of my Google Chrome tabs are completely black. Even when I refresh them. The only way to see them again is to open a new tab. My specs are:
Windows 7 x64
2011 MacBook Pro (BootCamp)
ATI Radeon HD 6600
4 GB RAM
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Run it with the -printlog parameter (has to be an actual parameter, can't put it in d2x.ini) and post the resulting d2x.log

I noticed something else weird. To use -printlog I started d2x-xl from the console (tried both regular and x64 versions). I saw the missing Vertigo file dialog as usual, but after dismissing it I didn't see a window at all, and no d2x.log was created. D2X showed up in the task manager, though. So after killing it I tried running the x64 version from Explorer (this time I had disabled fullscreen in d2x.ini) and the display driver actually crashed and recovered (Windows informed me thusly). Same white screen though, just in a window this time. Here is the d2x.ini when I ran it from Explorer:
