Postby Guidebot2 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 7:45 am

When I fire in a robot, I can not hear the sound. After the robot explodes, I can hear the sound. How can I fix this? :(

this string of threads all seems like things to be reporting on SourceForge, are they not?

Ok, I read the instructions, and I put SDL_mixer 0 and worked!
But I can not hear the music. :(
Also, I put my custom music, but I do not know how to activate it. (SDL_mixer 1)
The musics are .mp3

What Karx is specifically refering to in the instructions, is to install the hi-res sounds.

This setting is totally correct in the .ini file:
SDL_mixer 1
hires_sound 2

Now, you need to also install the hi-res sounds: http://www.descent2.de/files/sound/hires-sounds.7z

Unpack them to your D2X-XL installation folder, and you should be done.

And BTW, for best restults, you should have your music for D2X-XL in OGG format.
MP3 doesn't works as nicely.

when in doubt of anything, do this.

Before you even post on the forums about it. The installation instructions will probably have your answer right there in black and white

And the FAQ - which is there for a reason - explicitly addresses that problem as well.

Too keep things short: karx11erx's signature: click and play. It's there for a reason. Speaking of which I wonder if you would be interested in typing down a game manual D? Thing is, writing it from scratch is big work, but a lot of the material is already typed and organized on the web. With LaTeX it should look good.

He can't give you music (necessarily). You have your own music, and use it with D2X-XL. Preferably, you should convert it in .ogg format. If it is MP3, it is fine too.

I think you can convert if you want your music to OGG format using Foobar.
Then you just put it on some folder and use a playlist (a text file) to call for the music files, as specified on the D2X-XL instructions.
