Not Enough Memory

Hi,
If I try to start a game I get a "Not enough memory" message after 50% loading progress. I followed the installation instructions and installed the high res sounds, models and med res textures.
I have the GOG version of descent 1/2 and I'm launching the game with the 32Bit d2x-xl.exe

My system specs:
Core2 Q9450
8 GB Ram
Geforce GTX560Ti
Windows 8.1 Pro x64

If I disable high res textures in the d2x.ini I'll get a "Memory access violation".

It seems the crash is in the first call of glTexSubImage3D() in CParticleImageManager::SetupMultipleTextures() but I don't know why.
A workaround is to disable the particles in the effect options.

I'm able to play now with disabled hires textures and disabled particles. But the game crash again if I try to start a level with oculus rift support enabled.

Its a "Memory access violation" in the rift library.

The "Not Enough Memory" is only happening in the downloaded binaries it's not happening in the SVN version (maybe not in Debug). I don't had time to compile the release version yet.

The Oculus Rift crash is always happening if the rift is connected to the PC ... not only if the rift support is enabled in the render options.

I have also found that disabling hires in the ini file allows the game to run, otherwise I get the out of memory error.

1.17.2 works fine still and I have changed nothing. This is an ongoing error since 1.17.3

Sorry, but there has been a new Rift SDK, and it's prolly broken.

I don't own the hardware anymore though.
