Guided missile view

Some time ago I have discovered that guided missile view doesn't work.
Missile view shows black screen so guided missiles becoming almost unusable as _guided_.

It is bug or misconfiguration?
"Missile view" option don't change the behavior.

Try 1.16.127, it's located in the D2X-XL Sourceforge site.

1.17.x are known to have a few bugs introduced after the Occulus Rift support, but karx11erx (the developer) don't have an Occulus Rift right now and thus
he is not as able as he want to fix those bugs, so until he gets a chance to have one, you may want to use that older version that is pretty stable. :)

The game doesn't crash for me, so I have no clues where to look for problems. I should probably release a new version with OR support disabled. There had been some (stupid) changes in the API that caused some crashes in D2X-XL. I thought I had fixed all that, but maybe something has escaped me, and since I don't own an OR anymore, I cannot test that.

I have created a new D2X-XL version where Oculus Rift support is contained, but disabled by default, and added a command line/settings file option allowing to enable Oculus Rift:

-oculus_rift 1

I assume the problems are caused by the Oculus Rift SDK. If I am right, disabling OR support should help.

Unfortunately the new Oculus Rift switch makes no difference to the current errors. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I added

;enable Oculus Rift support
-oculus_rift 0

to my ini file.

I have identified a few texture management related bugs and will upload a bug fix shortly, but I cannot promise that this will solve the problem with the crashes (which I do not experience).

Today, I managed to identify the reason for the hires texture related crashes. Actually it was a more general problem, but hires textures provoked it most likely due to their high memory requirements.

Also fixing a HUD related bug that can cause crashes.

Version 1.17.11 is still missile view error prone (it also introduced some other errors (information absence) in HUD).
Disabling Oculus Rift support doesn't help.
So 1.16.27 version is still more stable and preferred.

Seems finally fixed in 1.17.12 - thank you! :joy:
HUD is OK (earlier it was in "minimal" mode instead of "full"). Excuse me pls. :oops:
