Missile lock kicks ship around...?

Postby floyth » Thu May 14, 2015 7:49 am

Hi there,

not sure if that's supposed to be a feature - when a bot gets a lock on my ship (e.g. homing plasma from Shredder), I start getting kicked around (noisily) as if I was under Vulcan fire. The least that happens is that I lose my aim, generally I just get killed in the ensuing confusion. It appears that the same happens to bots that get missile lock from me, judging from the banging noises. This is with lock indicator OFF - with it ON, my own missile lock seems to start such havoc with bot physics that the game nearly grinds to a halt.

So, is that intentional? If so, any way to turn it off? I dread to think what will happen when the homing missile hulks etc. start showing up...

YES! FINALLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

I too have experienced this glitch, but as even sending pilot files and a savegame just before it started was not enough to cause it to happen for Diedel I had considered it to be a peculiar bug unique to my overall computer configuration. If he can't duplicate it how can he fix it?

Here is yet another reason to check out the new version. I will have a play and let you know if it still occurs for me. :bounce:

Well, floyth's comment might be helpful, as the problem seems to be related to using homing missiles. Please create a bug ticket on sourceforge net and attach your player profile there (*.plr, *.plx).

Updated the bug log with .plr. Also added some new info - I think the problem may not be missile lock, but specifically shredder plasma lock.

Must have gone into spam :/
Savegame attached - just before entering 1st secret level, going through & engaging the first shredder should do it.

The "shredders" are called "Diamond Claws". ;)

Bug fixed, just compiling the release.

Hot diggity! Thanks :)

(I was quite sure they were called shredders, not sure where that came from... maybe the one-clawed guys from D1? Eh...)
