hires content

Postby Frustikus » Wed Apr 09, 2008 4:33 pm

Always glad to help ;-)

An installed D2X-XL -with all the available hires-content- will use over 2 GB harddisc space. That´s one reason, why hires-textures, models, sound and the extra movies (D1) are not included. The zip-file (D2X-XL-Version.zip) would be too big.

If you want D2X-XL to look like its best, then you should download and install all the hires stuff.

A complete install is about 4.5 GB.

In the data subfolder you will find a file called descent.tex.eng

Take off the .eng so that the name reads descent.tex and your problem will be solved!

That's not the proper solution. I don't know what causes this problem. I don't have it. I have the suspicion that the files have not been setup properly.

You need to run d2x-xl with the -printlog parameter and it will create a d2x.log file in the d2x-xl folder.

...and if you are not sure where to put it.
Open the d2x.ini file and add the -printlog anywhere to the list of switches and save.

That should do it. ;)

I also get that error message:

"Cannot find DESCENT.TEX and DESCENT.TXB"

It's been popping up ever since D2x-xl was installed. However the absence does not seem to negatively affect the game...I think

I'm curious about what they are exactly. Perhaps those who dont get the error message can do a search for those files. Find out where you got them from what that they are used for.

I myself have carefuly searched the contents of my Descent 2 CD and d2x-xl. Those 2 files are not included in either.

Yokelassence, these 2 files are d2x-xl files and are for localised languages.

Diedel is aware that this is a problem and it is now reported as fixed in version .78

Yay Diedel
