Applying Custom music to menu and game/

Postby Kaizerwolf » Sun Apr 27, 2008 11:08 pm

Ok ok. I read the bit about putting in custom menu music and game music, and followed the directions given, but it doesnt work. What does it mean by full path? Like C:/mydocuments/mymusic..etc etc?

Just please tell me the order in which the text should look. I have it set as this now.

;-introsong C:\Documents and Settings\Jeff\My Documents\My Music\119140_Rhythm_is_a_Dancer_Remix.mp3

Please tell me what needs to be where. Yes, my name is Jeff :D

you need to remove the ";" from that line for it to work. The ";" comments it out.

That didn't work. It still plays the normal menu music.

Could the spaces in the filename be causing problems?

mp3 probably doesn't work. The mp3 playback library is buggy.

Converting the mp3 to ogg is the best (probably only) solution.

There are alot of programs to help in the conversion process. :D (some are even free to use  )

Here is a instant link to the one I currently use. Its free & works great! :D

If it doesn't work let me know.

Whenever I enable SDL_mixer, the sound effects are turned off. The ogg music works fine, but does anyone know how I could turn the sound effects back on?

Do you have the high-res sound effects enabled? Make sure -hires_sound=0 in the dx2.ini. If -hires_sound= 1 or 2 it will replace all sound effects with what valid files it finds (or doesn't find) in the sounds1 or sounds2 directories and you won't hear any of the normal sounds that don't have a hi-res replacement. Let me know though if -hires_sound=0, -sdl_mixer=1, and you're still getting none of the normal sounds because I feel like I ran into that issue myself at one point but I really can't remember.

Haven't tried the song stuff myself, but I'd try covering all the bases by copying the song to a short path with no spaces in it, renaming it to something simple, and keeping it all lowercase, ie. -introsong c:\d2\music\dancer.ogg. Also toggle the -sdl_mixer switch in the dx2.ini if it still doesn't work. I think it should be enabled (-sdl_mixer=1) but if it doesn't need to be then changing it to 0 would be preferable on windows at the moment I find.

Also, be sure to disable -nocdrom switch in the ini file. 8)
