Old map remastered

Postby karx11erx » Tue Apr 06, 2010 9:53 pm

Today I finished remastering "Tankboy", an old multiplayer level of mine. I always liked it because of its layout. It is a very rectangular level, but still not your usual "box" style. It has a huge hall in its center that is surrounded by wide tunnels giving lots of room for dogfights, but also has a lot of small tunnels and interconnections. It supports 12 players now which it should be well capable to hold. Revamped with D3 textures, smoke and sound effects and improved structure.

Here is a screenshot:

That map looks very nice. :) What's the pretty blue room in the bottom left for?

"The pretty blue room", LOL!

That's where you can store your toy pyros and Barbie Materiel Defenders.

Maybe it's the transporter room. It has the Star Trek-style sparklies.

Well, almost.

Thanks Sirius, I just pictured Spock materialising in that room and vaporising a Pyro while a Red shirt gets fragged by a smart missile.

Hehe.

I think it looks amazing. I love small, creative levels like this! The texture work is really impressive. No matter where you go, you don't get bored looking at the walls ;) I'm gonna get a multiplayer game going on this today...

I have worked over the level, adding some detail and optimizing a few areas, and will post an update this evening (or grab it from SF.net, Maps area, 12plus player maps).

Heh, Star Treck references aside the level really shows how well you do the metallic/factory theme. It looks like a refinery or a processing plant with the pools of water with pipes running through. I like levels that look like functional mines or facilities.

You have inspired me to add a few fans, control panels and techy looking lamps with your comment, Yoke. :)

Looks nice! I like those columns of lights in the middle of some hallways, very techy looking. :D
What if, in 30 years, you're considered for the highest office in the land and get denied because some sneak found that misspelled post of yours about how "Nickledon" sucked and ruins your political career by exposing it?- poxpower

You can download the latest, enhanced version from the D2X-XL project area on SF.net now, Maps subsection (12 plus player maps). I added quite a bit more techy looking stuff. ;)

I have added more stuff to the map and uploaded it to my webspace ... since Yoke had set off that industrial water processing idea I find it hard to find a stop ...
