Sound edit.

Postby -JoFFa- » Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:34 am

There are efforts applyed to create additional sound content.
I mean lava wind water sounds and so on.

Can you please tell me:

1. Is there a possibility to add additional sounds in a game. for instance - several different fan sounds.
2. If i want to provide music for my exact level - can you please tell me where to get info of how to do it. So far i didnt find it yet.

Thank you.

1. I don't know if D2X-XL has such feature, but i don't think so...
2. Yeap, you can add your own custom OGG file to each exact level. Just put your OGG file in your mission HOG with the name of your level (e.g. Level01.rl2 and Level01.ogg, or joffa1.rl2 and joffa1.ogg)
:)

With any HOG edition tool. It can be Hoggle or Yahoma (and even DTX2). You can find them on Planetdescent ;)

EDIT: Megagun's advice is correct. Yahoma is the best of them :)

I recommend Yahoma. It's the best HOG editing program there is.

So with yahoma i can add any files to archive - COOL...and i guess D2x-xl somehow made to recognize ogg corresponding to the level - as in midi files...even cooler...

You can even use DLE-XP... open your mission, and at that little box that has you choose your .rl2 file, click "Import File". Tada.

(Just in cast anybody didn't know...)

How do you set D2X-XL to read the ogg files from the hog file?

Although I implemented it, Pumo might actually know better, as he is using it ...
