I got DLE-XP!

Postby Kaizerwolf » Tue Apr 15, 2008 1:26 pm

Hey! I got DLE-XP now, and Im having a lot of fun making levels. Yeah, they aren't great, but they are good enough for a first try! I just want to know how I can upload them for others to see and play. Can anyone help?

I use Mediafire to upload files, it's free, simple, and effective.
As to where to post them, I would recommend PlanetDescent forums or DescentBB.net. There are more people on DBB but the folks on PD are a bit nicer.

Great! i would love to play your levels sometime! Are you making singleplayer levels, or multiplayer arenas? If your making multiplayer, i'll help test them out with you if you want. i don't get to play much multiplayer anymore

Hmm, no just singleplayer so far. I may work on some multiplayer, I don't know.

I called the level "The Tide"

Tell me if there is an easier way to upload them together.

Pack them in a zip or something similar?

WinRAR is the only way to go when it comes to compression.

RAR trades convenience for file size. I wouldn't use it for small files since not everyone has it.

The major archivers will unpack files archives created with other formats and tools, so it's not a big deal which one you use, but if you're concerned about getting smaller files you can as well go the extra 'mile' with 7z (it's LGPL).
