OK, with that being said from both Alter-Fox and Diedel, then it's official: Lasers are thinier now. :)
So now it's time to keep on with the next weapon changes...

Quick update!

I've made some changes to the weapons here and there, changed some names, tweaked some stuff, etc
I've also made some more progress on Level 8, as can be seen here:
Image

Also made a huge bunch of new 256x256 textures based on those from D1 but with a small personal touch to make them fit the overall Pumo Mines scheme:
Image

I've finished all D1 textures already, and I'm starting with the D2 ones. :)

And as the topping for the cake, I've remastered all in-game sounds with a subtle harmonic exciter to make them use more of the 44khz bandwidth (22khz of actual audio) and improve sound quality overall.

And you can see all the stuff at once in the following video, that shows a bit of Level 8 with the new textures, sounds and also the new weapons :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zM_1GL ... s4lvvp-_u8
(Note light colors are not correct yet and there is still lots of work to be done!)

You'll notice I got rid of the Hyper Laser and replaced it with a much better weapon. ;)

_______

Now, the new weapons names:
    Pulser (instead of Laser)
Power Pulser (instead of Super Laser)
Ember Cannon (instead of Hard Gun/Vulcan)
Machinna Cannon (instead of Tracer Cannon/Gauss)
    Lumina Cannon (instead of Spark/Spreadfire)
    Stella Cannon (instead of Radius/Helix)
Nucleon Cannon (it remains the same, replacing the Plasma)
PD Cannon/PDC (instead of Hyper Laser/Phoenix. PDC stands for Photon Disruptor Cannon)
    Pion Cannon (instead of Core/Fusion)
    Maser Cannon (instead of Flamer/Omega)
-
Gemini Missile (instead of Tracer Miss./Flash)
Centinel Bomb (remains the same, replacing Prox. Bomb)
Phantom Mine (instead of Intellimine/Smart Mine)
Catacomb Miss. (remains the same, replacing Smart Miss.)
Bouncer Miss. (remains the same, replacing Merc. Miss.)
    Punch Miss. (instead of Heavy/Mega)
    Arachno Miss. (instead of Phantom/Earthshaker)

As you may also noticed, I changed some weapons more or less radically, although most of them remained the same.
Note the Pulser/Laser has new different colors, that will also vary depending of the ship & pilot/MD used during the mission. :D

EDIT: My bad, I forgot to show both Lumina and Stella Cannons on the video!
Oh well, anyway I didn't changed the weapons that much, only small aesthetic changes but they are still pretty similar to the old ones.

Level 8 looks amazing and I still love the song.
The new weapons look pretty cool too, although some of the missiles still seem to use the 3D "in-flight" models from the main D2 set.
We live in a universe... It's distracting

Yeap, I still have to make the new custom models for both the weapons and the powerups, but that will be later on.

As for now, my top priority are the levels itself and the basic textures/GFX and sound stuff (fortunately I mostly finished the latter).

The level looks great! :thumb:

One thing: That waterfall or whatever it is - wouldn't it look nicer if it was more rounded?

Mmmh, yeah it would look nicer if I make it rounder.
That one is part of the piece Blarget sent to me and I haven't made much of a structure change on it, but will see where I can improve it.

And just for the record, there's already a rounded waterfall that Blarget made at the other (smaller) pond, BTW. :)

Another quick update. I finished making my hi-res versions of all rock and ceiling textures of both D1 and D2 for use on Pumo Mines, and I also made a new re-make of the switch textures, this time in 256x256.

Take a look:

Looks awesome. I would like to offer these textures as part of my standard hires (256x256) texture pack. Would that be ok with you?

Do you mean the D1/D2 textures I made? Of course you can freely distribute them. :)
I will pack and send the textures to you ASAP, although it doesn't include secret doors yet, so they will look different than their solid rock counterparts.

(Note a couple of the ceiling textures are slightly based (i.e. using as bump or overlay layer) on those from the official D2X-XL packs by Novacron, Theftbot and Joffa)

EDIT:

Here is the pack with the D1 textures: http://www.mediafire.com/download/610oy ... uresPM.rar

And the D2 textures: http://www.mediafire.com/download/kkd94 ... uresPM.rar

You can bet I will be LPing this when it's released! Phenomenal stuff, really! Makes me 'want' to wait for the light maps to load just to play the levels! Haha

Yeah, a couple of LP videos of PM on the future would be pretty nice!

:coding: I'm precisely making some new weapon stuff right now, I certainly have not stopped working on PM!

Quick update:

For the weapon 3D models, as I said before, I will be using the D2X-XL Hi-res 3D models by MetalBeast as base.

However, in some instances (i.e. for lasers/pulsers, some missiles and misc. powerups like afterburner) I may be using the 3D models as they are (with no changes on the shape), but only with all new PM themed textures (including the PMC logo and stuff) and different colors.
This is to reduce work time and invest it on other parts of the project.

Of course, as always, there will be proper credits as due.

I couldn't contact Metalbeast as of lately (I hope he's doing well?), but I suppose there won't be a problem as Pumo Mines is part of a D2X-XL project.
