As I previously said, everything regarding Pumo Mines saga will be designed for D2X-XL, so Muchikuche will be a D2X-XL mission with no doubt. :)

I will show some of the rather small progress of the other Pumo Mines related projects I'm working on in following posts. ;)

So, I'm back here!

And as promised, I will show some stuff from the other Pumo Mines saga related projects.

-----------

First of all, some screenies of the first prequel to Kartsal Motivation, Mineral Valley:

This is MV Level 1:

Image

That BTW, it's completely done by now. :)

The entrance to the level:

Image

A low-res vanilla style PM hostage (in his respective cell):

Image

A lava pool in MV Level 2:

Image

An overview of MV Level 2 (Still WIP):

Image

And that's all for Mineral Valley. As you may notice, Mineral Valley is a pure vanilla style mission, with 900 cube limit levels, low-res textures and other old school stuff, intentionally;
But don't be fooled! It's actually a full D2X-XL mission that uses several modding capabilites specific to XL. ;)

-----------

Now, a small glimpse of Muchikuche, that would be eventually the sequel to Kartsal Motivation:

One of the all new (and a bit 'exotic') colors for your ship lasers on Muchikuche:

Image

Pink laser! pretty cool, uh? :)

Now, one of the weapons for Muchikuche, the Positron Cannon:

Image

And the Photon cannon:

Image

The new lava texture for Muchikuche:

Image

And, the new transparent water texture:

Image

Note that actually, the water has some extra effects, like fake reflection on one side, and although not apparent on a static image, it does have a caustics effect beneath, scattered throughout all the submerged cubes.
It looks pretty cool in motion. :thumb:

And nope, I won't use none of those effects on Kartsal Motivation, for the reasons I said before.

As you may noticed, Muchikuche is the exact opposite of Mineral Valley, one being totally old-school and the other being pretty modern and revolutionary while exploiting some special XL charateristics, as Muchikuche has even higher texture resolution and more special effects than Kartsal Motivation, leaving Kartsal M. just in the perfect middle. :)

-----------

And lastly, as I now have time to work on Kartsal Motivation, I've started working on Level 5 finally! Yay!! :joy:

This is what I got as for today, the terrain part, where a group of Hosakos will chase you through it:

Image Image

The big round section carved at the big terrain block, is the entrance to the mine.
This terrain is actually bigger than what may be apparent on the pics, being the biggest one I've ever made for PM.

And BTW, thanks a lot to Alter-Fox for writing the plot and a lot of ideas for this level! :D

Thanks Vito!
Good to see you liked it.

And now, as I got a bit more of time today to continue working on Level 5,
this is the maze work in progress (WIP) of the upper part of the mine:

Image

In three different angles so you can get an idea of the layout.

Of course it's still pretty boxy, but will be much better and rounded on future builds. :)

So I wasn't the first to come up with the idea of making all water transparent, even if you can't fly through it, in D2X-XL levels...
This restores my faith in Descent Modders :P.

Yeap, Diedel is right, XL levels have transparent water by default.

In fact, IIRC Azure Catacombs XL version features that kind of transparent water even if you can't pass through it. :)

You only cannot pass through it because you cannot in the original level, nor in Wolfie's version of it. I would probably have made it passable otherwise - there are segments below the surface of the water already anyway.

And so many authors put it on floors instead of making it a wall, and so they never take advantage of that fact.
Also I did it before Azure Catacombs, but my D2X-XL Demo Mission isn't ready for release so you haven't seen it yet. So you must take my word for it.

Small bump here.

I just want to show a small update on Level 5:

Image

The upper mine maze is done, and much less blocky. :)

It would be good practice to do that with water everywhere if it weren't for the low wall limit in regular D2.
