Well, in some aspect, and as I changed some weapons completely, yeah, I'm making some kind of reset and goin' for a new look, but another reason for this is due to my lack of time and 'hardcore' modelling skills.

Originally, the sprites were modelled on Bryce, a very easy program to use but not very professional (you could say that compared to real 3D modelling apps it's almost like a game). Exporting the models I made on Bryce is not possible due to the lack of exporting features it has (it just exports carved details, but not the main primitives used as the model body).
As I'm not a pro at 3DS and I want to invest more time at level-making and other vital models (like Hosako ships), I choose to use pieces and parts of Metalbeast (that even include UV mapping, fortunately) models as assets to make my new weapon models, so I'm limited to some extent by the angular shapes of those weapons.
Now, the weapons that feature complete Spherical shapes (like the Nucleon) are easier and quickier to make.
So that one will have its characteristic spherical body, fortunately.

There's another alternative (but it will make me loose some UV mapping and would need to invest some extra time on that):
Replace the Plasma body I used by one made by me on Wings3D (I'm better at Wings3D than at 3D Studio).
But I will decide about doing that later, as I'm already busy with the modelling of the ships in general (heavy and light ship, Hosakos, etc).
