Unfortunately I'm not sure MFC does the whole flip-top cover and big red button thing.

Well, I have modified the hog manager dialog to reduce the risk of such things happening in the future. Get DLE-XP v1.7.48.

@Yoke:
Those are really bad news. :(
I hope you can do all that great stuff without problems.

That happened to me once while making PM Level 2, and yeah, that really makes you feel frustrated :wallbash:
Fortunately i had a backup on my USB memory, so i just had to redone some smoke/effect settings and small stuff.

Also a new thing i do is that everytime i open DLE-XP to make a change to my level i made a copy of the HOG file there on the directory it resides.
I recommend you to do that, and also to create a copy of your HOG periodically (preferably every night) to a backup directory, another partition or HD drive or like i do, to an external USB memory.

Anyway, glad to see the new version of DLE-XP (1.7.48 ) is more safe regarding that issue :)

Double clicking! I really wish I knew about that sooner. Bugger :wallbash:

I will save backups more often, I already had a folder for it but was not using it nearly enough.

Oh, cruel fate...and cruel mouse coordination...WHY! WHYYYYYYY!

Well, as Dilbert said when hinted to the fact that his enormous analog computer working by shifting entire universes would kill gazillions of lives: Shift happens ...

It took me a while but I rebuilt the geometry that I had lost: an extension to the outdoor scenery which involved a lot of manual cube-work and a brand new exit shaft.

I think I did a pretty good job replicating what I had before, especially with the exit tunnel and the new loading platform interior. The extra development time also gave me a chance to find even more texture errors and touch up some area's that were still reminiscent of blockier days

With level 4 polished off now, and given the additional changes made I am confident in calling this mission version 1.2 non-beta

Changes include (mostly apply to level 4):
  • Enhanced the escape sequence to take the battle outdoors.
  • Refurbished some rooms, more detailed.
  • Added a jump gate style exit outdoors.
  • The exit must now be enabled by switch before use.
  • Added a teleport connection between the blue sector and the left-hand red sector, similar to how the yellow sector had a teleport connection to the right-hand red sector
  • Added a vulcan cannon dispenser in the left-hand red sector
  • Numerous, miscellaneous adjustments to textures, robot placement, equipment placement and trigger mechanics
  • Fixed lighting problems

Cannot host it just yet, but I will have that sorted very shortly

Download is back up.

I used the delay to add one more thing: you can now show/hide the camera's in level 4. Just hit a panel located under the monitors

So when frame rates get low you can turn the camera's off and improve performance without having to enter the menu.

Wow. I just barely played the first level and half of the second.

I'm speechless. That was awesome! Plenty of the tight labyrinth dogfights and open-area combat! This feels so classic!

Awesome job! I can't wait to see the rest of the mission!

Something has been brought to my attention. It appears that levels 2, 3 and 4 do not have a countdown and simply explode immediately, giving the player no chance of escape. Although according to DLE-XP the reactor settings are normal.

After a bit of testing I find that the problem is caused by the Countdown Trigger

My question is: is this just me, or is this problem prevalent for others as well?

If you have the latest version of this mission, blow the reactor on level 2, is there a countdown?

Played it through, VERY nice design! I could only dream of doing something the likes of this.
Robot variation / saturation is good too: not to hard, not too easy ;)

I'm chalking this one up there with Descent: Lost Levels :D
