Well, i've checked out the new blue shockwave effect graphics, and it really makes me drool!
I find however those shockwaves a little too big, but it's not really that much and it looks nice anyways.
Overall I think it's perfect!
Impresive work you did with this.

Pumo,
I had found the shockwaves too small before.
Ressk,
just my thoughts.
Though it is a cool idea and a useful device, I never really liked and hardly ever used the RADAR before.

Re: Development Blah: Comments
yeah i never did like the old radar, took up too much room, but now its been improved vastly
Re: Development Blah: Comments
Another thing I like pretty much of newest versionsis the Debris control. It looks wonderful from 'medium' and above.
D2X-XL really has got a lot of great stuff latetly!

The new shadow stuff looks awesome.
I'm one of the few people who likes the old shadows (cool and useful), so it's especially great that they've been improved - even though that might remove some usefulness. I found even the old shadowing to really help immersion.
Eagerly awaiting the next version.

Re: Development Blah: Comments
Little inconsistencies in function implementation between versions cause the strangest bugs.

This is where I reveal that I never use cockpits.

Me hardly ever - that's why I didn't notice.

Re: Development Blah: Comments
I thought the screen looked stretched a bit, but that was not much of an issue compared to the problems I've been having.
I had an issue where nearly all versions of descent would bomb out when trying to access levels, either a new game or loading a savegame.
I tried setting up whole new installs (2 actually) and discovered that there was a problem in or with the missions folder. It was rather full of folders and missions but my 1st new install showed the same issue (I had just dragged the missions folder over) but my 2nd install I only had the D2 and Vertigo missions in the missions folder and it ran fine. I have only added the Enemy Within mission (as Iwas playing it) and all is ok.
Is there a limit of missions that can be read?
I haven't posted a bug about this as no-one else reported anything like this.
I'm glad I was able to sort it out myself.

Re: Development Blah: Comments
D2X-XL allows up to 300 files per folder, but it will (should) simply ignore excess files.
Maybe you can by and by restore your mission folder to its original state and tell me when the program starts to crash?

Re: Development Blah: Comments
I reported the screen stretching bug (aspect ratio stuck at 4:3, resolution stuck at 640x480 or 1024x768).
Glad that you've fixed it, but I still can't play that version
.
I don't even know what a side-by-side configuration is...

Re: Development Blah: Comments
I generally only use cockpits if I made them.
For the 90-degree homing missile turn, I actually haven't had that. (Which is nice, homing missiles haven't been dodgable for years.)
